Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 I wasn't invited to pitch a tent at camp this year, but today they asked me over to roast some marshmallows. I roasted them to the tune or three hits and three RBI.[fimg=550:cvsoqa1c]http://www.bloggingmets.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/Michael-Conforto.jpg[/fimg:cvsoqa1c]What's happening? Where will I play this year? How will I do?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 I'm assuming that uni number was just to symbolize his 1st round draft status and that he hasn't been wearing that as a player? After all, he certainly doesn't have the game to be wearing #1Which brings up the question: who do you suppose holds the MLB record for HRs while wearing #1 on their uni?I don't know the answer to this question, btw, it just hit me as I looked at that picture.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 8, 2015 Author Posted March 8, 2015 Mookie had 67, and he strikes me as as good a place to start as any.Richie Ashburn had 29 and his career high was the seven he hit in his final season with the Mets.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 8, 2015 Author Posted March 8, 2015 How about an almost-perfect contemporary of Mookie's — Lou Whitaker with 244? That's going to be tough to top.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 As for Conforto, he is going to hit very well at AA and AAA, showing 15-20 HR power (total). Then, in 2016 he'll hit his way onto the big league club.Later
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Got a mug right off of a 1965 Rookie Stars card.St. Lucie by midseason. AA by year's end.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Can't say what he'll do. I hope a lot.I like that its hard to find a report that didn't consider him a real nice hitter. So rare we get one of those.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Tears it up down on the farm but won't be up until June 2016.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 We saw the kid on Saturday - he had three hits, and was great at working the count. He looks like the real deal. I predict he'll get his shot at some point this season and will make an impression.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 I thought I posted in all of these threads. It has a lot less poststhan most of the FfF threads I found when looking for it.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Apparently his time is now.http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/story/_/id/13312210/michael-cuddyer-new-york-mets-placed-dl
Diamond Dad Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 We loved the way Conforto looked this spring. Last night in Trenton he went 0-5 and did not look good - only one ball hit hard. Maybe he's bored at AA and will turn it on in the Bigs -- against a rookie call-up for the Dodgers. Let's hope! At least he has a good wikipedia picture!
