Rubin: WOR has offered its pregame and postgame host job to Illinois native Wayne Randazzo, sources told ESPNNewYork.com.
The role will include fill-in play-by-play. Randazzo would succeed Seth Everett, who held the role last season.

Some of that play-by-play fill-in will probably come early due to the Islander success this year.

From Wayne's website:
Wayne Randazzo is headed into his second season as the play-by-play broadcaster of the Kane County Cougars (Class A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs) after spending his first four years in pro ball as the lead broadcaster for the Mobile BayBears (Class AA Affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks). Wayne is also currently an update anchor for Chicago's Sports Radio 670 the Score, the flagship station of the Chicago White Sox.
Wayne has hosted and co-hosted as a fill-in on the weekly baseball program, Hit & Run, as well as the pregame and postgame shows on the Chicago White Sox Radio Network. He's also worked in various anchor and reporting roles for Chicagos ESPN 1000, WGN Radio and the Illinois Radio Network.
Additionally, Wayne has performed in numerous roles as a television play-by-play broadcaster for the Big Ten Network, Chicago's Comcast Network 100 and for the Alabama High School Athletics Association covering football, mens and womens basketball, baseball and softball.

Something to think about as internet grumbles about Matt Harvey's second start not being televised.

Is there any reason, when the team owners also own a network anchored around team programming, that you shouldn't carry every spring training game? At least every spring training home game?

I guess the setup and staffing are somewhat prohibitive. For the games they do shoot, are those with MLB network equipment or SNY equipment?

The games that MLBN carries at this time of year are ones where they're merely picking up whatever local feed is televising the game back home so I assume the equipment, like the personnel, belongs to the individual channels as well.

So I guess the setup and staffing are cost-prohibitive and the ratings back home don't make it worthwhile.

Lot of folks want their Harvey visuals today.

seems that way.

I think "lots of folks" might be stretching it. But a lot of these people are the ones that also wish they'd televise the minor league games on the backfields via a streaming cam.

The Mets, generally, televise every home spring game with the exception of the occasional preemption for amateur hoops around my birthday.

Spectacularly random staffing of the SNY broadcast today: Scott Braun of MLBN on PBP, Jim Duquette the analyst and Alexa "Who's" Datt of Branden & Alexa fame as your roving reporter.

Will Ferrell Jose Oquendo-ing out west isn't quite as weird as this.

watched 20 minutes at the beginning during lunch. seemed okay, didn't see Alexa.

what happened to the third chick of Branden/Alexa trio?

Alexa grilled Matt Reynolds like Chuck Todd interviewing John McCain, except slightly more challenging.

Don't know where Christina is. She was my favorite of the Hosting Trio, probably because she appeared the least of the three of them.

For the most part, the regional advertising I get on SNY is very
low budget... I don't live that far from Citi as the crow flies. I think
they have trouble getting high-paying advertisers on both tv and radio.

Agreed.

Never thought I would miss the baseball trifecta of beer, cars, and lawn equipment.

But ambulance chasers, fake charities, and the corrections officer union telling me about the guy who raped my dawta is feeling kinda bush.

Maybe if they sign up a few of those high paying advertisers they'll be able to buy a radio transmitter that sends a signal that can be pointed toward Western Connecticut.

50,000 Watts of clear channel should reach you easily. Have your
wife move the antenna around while your tuning in!

I don't really care about WOR's advertising, they paid for the rights
to broadcast the Mets and their revenues from that mean nothing to
me or the team. SNY's cheesy advertisers are a disappointment to
me because the Mets own the station and would benefit from some
higher profile advertising than they do from men's penile problems
and asbestos litigation settlement fund lawyer ads.

I know it should. I can even pick up a Buffalo Radio Station in my car driving home at night. But when I drive home, I can't get WOR-AM. I think it has to do with how the signal is aimed. I lose the signal around Katonah and never pick it up again all the way home. And no matter where I place my home radio, I still can't get the station.
WOR says it is the "flagship of the Mets network". I wonder of that network includes any stations closer to me.
Sigh.

I checked this out once and I found at one point that two stations relaying the Mets feed were WTLA 1200 out of Syracuse and WAVZ 1300 out of New Haven. Give it a shot one night.

Smart Phone. MLB At-Bat app. I often don't even bother switching my car from Bluetooth to AM anymore.

Is the 710 Omni-Directional? I'm not up on that.

Is my memory messed up or was there a time where we did not like Nelson Figueroa?

Maybe I'm confusing him with Heath Bell.

I mean, he was a Quad-A guy that was starting to many games, but I don't think we necessarily disliked him.
