Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Hey, Abreu's one millionth career walk.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Man, Murphy popped up a meatball.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 That's gotta be approaching some record! No?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 That's 200 innings for Bart.ERA down to 4.04.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 That little bobblehead Casey looks good on TV.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Going to the park wearing an actual Casey Stengel jersey. That's hardcore.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Many cards I make never make the cut.OO, good play by that Asstro.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Altuve becomes (probably) the first ever Asstro batting leader. He has over 17% of the teams hits this season.Grats kid.OE: oh yea
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Abreu singles and is pulled to a rousing round of rooting. I can do w/o this, but it's nice. 2570 hits. Hell of a career Bobby. Now go catch a shower. There is an authenticator in the crowd just for stuff like this?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 That was pretty cool.Pointing to the Mets logo: double cool.

No pre-arranged dog and pony show, no dugouts emptying him, nothing over the top.Nice moment and well deserved.Mets have gone over the top with other stuff in the past (Lenny Harris's PH record, Franco's _00 save (I forget exactly which round number it was) ... but this wasn't one of them.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 The Mets didn't do anything. Didn't do anything but allow him to use their press room to announce his retirement, I guess.Terry, who loves the guy and was his first manager, did something. He threw him a start --- over Eric Young, big whoop --- and pinch-ran for him after a single.Perfectly fine with me. Briefly pausing to salute a long and productive career ending on the last day, even --- Bobby Abreu, Todd Zeile, or Willie Randolph --- is everything they incorrectly say about Jeter. It's classy.

I'll tip my cap to TC. He is a players manager.I still could have done w/o it. Too many years seeing Abreu the Phil, I guess. Cause he has had a fine career.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 I don't believe that Terry moves his bowels without Sandy's permission but you can think what you want to think. Again, this isn't a big deal except when you consider that they didn't find the time to honor the '73 NL Champs and can't be bothered to build a Seaver statue.

I disagree certainly.Sheesh, Alderson is both too aloof and a control freak? It's a 40-second pause. It's simply being decent. It's also the sot of thing that's done all over baseball, by all sorts of managers with all sorts of control over their own bowels.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 30!!!!![/bigpurple]Thank you Lucas.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Yeah. For everything that Sandy may have done wrong, he damn sure got that trade right.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 (edited) No one in the dugout, no towels, no nuthin, lol. Classic.30 HR / 92 RBITHE BIG BOYS LUCAS! YOUR ONE OF EM! Edited September 28, 2014 by Guest
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 My point, Edgy, is that I think that the manager clears all of his actions with the GM or a member of the GM's staff. That's all. It was sarcasm, not a crack directed at you, and I'm sorry if it seemed that way.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 I'm not buying that Terry's everyday lineup decisions need to be cleared from above.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 The empty car wash was all kinds of awesome. And Duda high-fiving imaginary teammates was even better.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Whatever. It looks like we root for a second place team.
