The 28-year-old followed a pair of 0-for-4 performances versus Baltimore by going 5-for-8 with home runs in each contest against New York. Cincinnati has won just two of its last eight contests and 16 of 47 since the All-Star break while the Mets saw their three-game winning streak come to an end.Travis d'Arnaud continued his torrid streak with a pair of doubles and is 11-for-20 with five runs scored and five RBIs during the road trip. Wilmer Flores hasn't done too badly for himself by going 11-for-28 with six runs scored during his seven-game hitting streak and rookie Dilson Herrera is having quite a nice series too. The youngest player in the majors, the 20-year-old Herrera homered among his three hits in the Mets' 14-5 win on Friday and had an RBI single in Saturday's 2-1 setback.TV: 1:10 p.m. ET, SNY (New York)PITCHING MATCHUP: Mets RH Zack Wheeler (9-9, 3.45 ERA) vs. Reds RH Mat Latos (5-5, 3.46)Wheeler was blitzed for five runs (two earned) on five hits in 4 2/3 innings, but walked away with a no-decision versus Miami on Monday. The 24-year-old wasn't helped by his mates in the field, with two of his team's six errors leading to three unearned runs. Wheeler has struggled with his control, issuing multiple walks in 15 of his last 17 outings.Latos suffered his first loss since July 27 after yielding five runs on 10 hits in five innings Tuesday versus Baltimore. The 26-year-old has struggled with the long ball, giving up three homers in his last two starts and five in six outings after permitting just three in his initial nine to start the season. Latos fell to 2-2 in his career against New York despite permitting one run on four hits in seven innings in his last meeting.WALK-OFFS:1. Cincinnati manager Bryan Price intends to play 1B Joey Votto when he's fully healed from a left distal quad strain - even if the team is eliminated from postseason contention.2. New York 3B David Wright is 11-for-27 with seven RBIs in his last six games.3. Reds OF Chris Heisey, who belted the go-ahead homer on Saturday, is 2-for-2 with two runs scored in the series.

Guest Trachsel My Tears Guests Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 On that DP just now, did it look to anyone else that Phillips (the runner on 1B) just hit the dirt halfway to 2B to avoid getting hit with the ball? What the hell kind of a play is that?
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Feels like am also ran game today.

What the hell kind of a play is that?I did see that. He was a blobby blur, almost looked like he was sliding midway. My thought was he should have been further along. Yea, that's new age bullshit baseball. Like going hard into second would be a rude thing to do.Really nice DP just now started by Wheeler. That was precision work.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Abreu is getting called up. What is the purpose of giving him any ABs at this point in the season? Since 40-Man roster is so precious, how can they find a spot for Abreu but not for Matt Reynolds who earned a callup.

I mean, wtf?Wheeler trying to navigate thru the 5th. After getting the first 2 outs he gives up 3 singles in a row. 1-0 Cin.Zack ends up K'n the side.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Vaunted Reds radio team. I'm not hearing it.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 OH! Hamilton sucks. That'll cost him the ROY.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 No matter how the RoY race breaks, would any of y'all trade deGrom for Hamilton? Trade Walker for Hamilton?
Guest Trachsel My Tears Guests Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Really lousy baserunning, as the Mets score anyway. Granderson misses first base, and the play before Wilmer takes his time on a flyout to center, and when Hamilton drops it, he turns on the jets. Prolly doesn't matter, he wouldn't have made third, but he needs to be hustling down the line until the ball is, what do they call it?, caught.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 That's one .200 hitter that has some dramatic punch.I don't like Latos' motion. He does some herky-jerky grab-and-regrab stuff with the ball in his glove. It feels false-starty.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Haha, errors can prove to be fatal.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Maybe Wheeler's going to be the Sid Fernandez of this staff --- the guy who is as good as anybody else in the rotation, but doesn't go as deep.Keith loves to make fun of dancing bears.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Curtis turns that dropped popup into a four-base error.

I had no doubt he would do this in the late 80s (unless Gooden beat him out). Haha, jeeeeze, Hanahan sucks. CURRRRRBOOM!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 The Reds just got... FAMILIARIZED.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Tack it on, Metsie, tack it on!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Wilmer vs. the lefty with the bezzes loaded. I'm excited.

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Today is not the day to pitch like shit, Mejiason.Hr and double, no out, 4-2 Mets.1 out now.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Mejia's slider is so hard to hit, I think he follows it up with weak-assed shit just out of boredom.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 4-3Fuck. I'd pull Mejia.Ugh, no one up, great.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Not a fan of the infield fly rule. It would take an exceptional effort to turn two on that ball if it dropped in.
