Burnett takes aim at the New York Mets - a team that has given him plenty of trouble this season - when the Philadelphia Phillies wrap up their three-game road set on Sunday. Burnett has given up at least five runs in all three of his starts against the Mets in 2014. Among the players who have given him trouble this year are New York catcher Travis d'Arnaud (5-for-9, two homers, five RBIs) and second baseman Daniel Murphy, who has three walks, a single and two doubles in three games against Burnett. The teams have split the first two games of the weekend series with the Mets winning 4-1 on Friday and dropping a 7-2 decision on Saturday. Ryan Howard drove in three runs in the latter contest, while Marlon Byrd set a career high with his 25th homer. Philadelphia, which has won five of its last six games, will aim to continue its resurgence against New York right-hander Dillon Gee, who has a 6.53 ERA in 13 career appearances (12 starts) against the Phillies.TV: 1:10 p.m. ET, CSN Philadelphia, SNY (New York)PITCHING MATCHUP: Phillies RH A.J. The 15-year veteran had gone 0-5 with a 7.52 ERA over his previous five outings, including a pair of losses to the Mets. Overall this season, Burnett is 0-2 with an 8.50 ERA and a .320 opponents batting average against New York.Gee has not been great since the All-Star break, posting a 1-5 record and a 5.29 ERA in eight starts since mid-July. However, his best start of the second half came against Philadelphia - a 2-1 triumph on Aug. 9 in which he yielded one run and three hits over seven frames. Howard has owned Gee throughout his career, going 9-for-23 (.391) with six homers and 14 RBIs against him. WALK-OFFS:1. Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 I apologize to Wright, I thought he'd kill the rally.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Is Gee screwing Howard's wife or something? Because, dayum.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2014 Author Posted August 31, 2014 Recker has only 5 homers this year, but this was the third consecutive homer with two runners on. Four of his five homers also came with the score tied or the Mets behind.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2014 Author Posted August 31, 2014 Dillon, you've just been given a three run lead. The Phillies have Freddy freakin Galvis leading off the next inning. You cannot walk him on four pitches.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Good Eveland![fimg=300]http://www.nyfa.edu/student-resources/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/Alfred-Hitchcock.jpg[/fimg]
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2014 Author Posted August 31, 2014 Of course Dillon's leadoff four-pitch walk of the guy hitting .085 results in a run. Nice job by Eveland though, retiring Utley, Howard and Sizemore.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Really surprised to see the team still getting meaningful outs out of Dana and Buddy.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Eveland's the last lefty standing out there as he's outlasted Rice, Lannan, and, at least temporarily, Edgin who appears to be at least temporarily unavailable.Sounds maybe like an early September call-up for Johnny Leathersich.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Groundout 5-3, but it may be the best at-bat I've seen Wright pull off in a month.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Wow, has any RBI single ever threaded the needle so delicately?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Ryan Howard and young Dilson standing over there next to each other on 1st look like a bear and its cub.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Mejia has to earn his keep with this one: Rollins, Utley, Howard, Brown due up.

Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Sweet DP, that's a long awkward throw for Dilson.
