I actually heard some out of town announcer the other day say something along the lines of; 'ya know, when I envisioned how replay was going to work, I was picturing it for use in obvious blown calls only'.
DUH!!! That's how EVERYONE envisions it but even a little common sense would tell you that there's no way to keep it to just that.

I expected us to be more up vs the Nats. Very disappointing series. Lets sweep this sweep under the rug.

Actual series totals (as opposed to exaggerated post-game pissed-off guesses):
HRs 7 -1
BBs: 11 - 2

I'd say in general, if the Mets ain't scoring they ain't winning.
And while that's true for every team, I suspect it's especially so for this year's NYM

It's weird stuff. The Mets were the most passive team in existence early in the season, walking like Egyptians, but not accomplishing too much else offensively. But the league responded, and started pouring in early fastballs to routinely put the Mets in the hole.

Then shortly after the batting coach turnover, they pivoted. They started attacking early, particularly the early fastballs, and the results showed, particularly for Duda. But it seems maybe the league has adjusted again, and is suckering the newly aggressive Mets into chasing early, and they're starting at-bats behind the 8-ball again.

yeah, I think the Mets really need (at least) one more talented hitter. As it is now, when one of them slumps or struggles to make adjustments the whole offense goes missing.

Of course, they're playing the no-hit den Dekker and Flores a lot now. With valid arguments, but still.

Yeah, if the organization wants to go full on into play-for-next-year mode while they are seven and a half games out before they have a series at home against the first-place team, publickly announcing that this was the lineup they were rolling out come what may, because the rest of the season is about assessment, Terry really shouldn't be telling the team that they still need to believe in themselves. Not while he's demonstrated he no longer believes himself.

so you think that if Terry was really serious about winning, he'd be playing Tejada and Eric Young every day? He'd have kept Abreu and C.Young on the roster? Please.
Flores and dDekker (or Nieuhenheis or campbell) give us at least as good a chance to win each day, and also give us a better understanding of what we've got going forward.

No.

Wait, you had assumed a yes to those questions, and weren't actually asking at all?

I wonder if David Wright will be available this offseason.

that would certainly help wouldn't it? (Though he hasn't been a problem, just not quite a solution either)

This sweep just displayed how far they have yet to go to be truly competitive. There's no margin for error with this team. They either have to play pretty much perfectly or rely on the other team to screw up, like the Phillies seem to do reliably.

Well, perhaps they have to be perfect when the pitching matchup is favoring the other guys. That hadn't been happening a lot the previous month, but sure happened this series.

More generally, they just have to be better.
