Barehanded and arm-whipped a slow grounder to get Simmons by a hair.

deGrom's not pitching badly this inning... he's just being made to labor.

Thanks. It hasn't been added to the replays...yet. Thought they'd show it at the innings end.
Bastages.

Great play by Wright stifles Heyward.

There's not enough beer to go around tonight!

Try and think, though, that it's a week later and the Mets are some'n'how four games closer.

And, if the game ends with this score (or more favorable for the Mets) then the Mets will have a better season-long RS/RA number than the Braves - and yet be 8 games behind.

Verrry Frustrating.

DeGrom's a keeper. At the start of the season, I didn't envision him being ahead of Thor and Montero.

Around the league tonight ...

- Yanx hand Tanaka a 2-run lead in the 1st, but lose 5-3 in large part due to a tie-breaking Nick Swisher HR.
Good thing the Yanx got rid of all those HR hitters they hated (like Swisher & Grandy) in favor of a small-ball/pop-gun offense. Maybe it's time for them to re-think that wish.

- O's at Nats rained out tonight. It was to be the 2nd game of their 4-game 2+2 series but they're not going to make it up either Wednesday or Thursday by doing a 2-games/2-cities/one-day thing that the Mets & Yanx did twice. Yeah, those stadiums are 40 miles apart rather than 6, but it would be doable in a day/night way.

Dammit. I wanted the back-end of the pen to get the night off. That'll cost you more than a sip Mr. Eveland. And you look like a guy who likes his beer. Tisk, tisk.
