Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Jay singles and the tying run comes to the plate in the form of a gnat.

I have no doubt that some catcher is gonna get hurt bad diving into the runner like that. This new rule is..., well, obviously its not for the Birds. But mark my words.Tonights game just wasn't in the cards for St. Loui.....okay, I'll stop.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 The camera angle on the Tejada relay was terrific. At first it looked like the throw was headed slightly to the 1st base side, but then it seemed to 'slice' (maybe on account of the wind, maybe just the way Ruben threw it) towards the 3B side which played right into the direction of d'Arnaud's sweep tag and took the momentum of his glove right into the runner.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Ruben had just about as solid an 0-3 game as a guy could have.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 I was there tonight, I was thinking of posting during the game, but I couldn't feel my fingers. I've been to colder games, but I think this was the windiest game ever. The crowd got into it at moments. but was generally too cold and miserable to clap or cheer... the cries of "fuck you, you're inside" to the celebrity they had on the scoreboard trying to get fans to cheer was funny as was the lowest level of applause for the "clapping meter" ever. We actually didn't sit down all game, preferring to wander around and watch standing, it seemed warmer.Wacha looked like he was going to make it a very miserable night for the freezing Mets Faithful, but that came apart fast and then he was gone.Duda hit a second ball that looked like a homer too but the wind killed it (wind killed a couple for St Louis too).I wouldnt have let Farnsworth face the last batter after 3 guys had SMOKED the ball on him already.Instant Replay may help lead to accurate results but its really a bit of a mood killer. In 'The Good Old Days' (last year) the Cardinal manager would have come out there and yelled, the fans would be booing him... and then a huge cheer when he got himself thrown out, guaranteed to liven up the crowd whether home or away... and now nothing. we all stand there waiting.
