pick such a long a dark song.

Superbold choice... I'm just not sure the subject matter quite stands up to it/pairs with it quite as well as "Centerfold."

Both really great. I gave a small edge to the idea that "Centerfield" took in his odd position change and so mirrored the surprise revelation of the original subject matter.

I think that's part of what made it work better.

I mean, on one level, I like the discordance of the bombastic "The End" with Rick Fucking Ankiel. But, yeah, "Centerfold" is like lock-and-key with the parody narrative.

I'm resolved to give these both a full listen, but "The End" is a challenge and a half for me.

I had friends who ran a saloon and had The Doors Greatest Hits on their CD jukebox, but just blacked out "The End" and I think shut the box down anytime someone figured out it was there and played it anyway. It just sucked all energy out of the room and they knew it.
