seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Screwed up our schedule, so instead of being in Cobleskill tomorrow, I'm in Cobleskill on Thursday, which means I'm at this Cooperstown hotel all day tomorrow. And I guess I've got a ton of work to do, but I suppose I could kill some time walking around town. Wonder if they have anything interesting here.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 I loved walking around Cooperstown. Lotsa little shops. Doubleday Field is a must see. Nice place to walk even without a destination in mind. I was there last in the early 90's, but I imagine it hasn't changed much.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 The Glimmerglass Opera is great and all, but it would be a lot more... well... complete if they got down off their high horse and allowed in amplification, elaborate costumes and other performance enhancers.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 The shopping there is a collector's paradise.

Found unopened packs of 74 Topps in one card shop. I was a little dubious but one of my brothers got a Nolan Ryan.OE: and a Steve Carton in the same pack. Edited October 15, 2013 by Guest

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 See the Hall. If you have time for a meal & nice beer, hit the Ommegang Brewery about 10 miles or so away.

It's only open for lunch, though, so last night I had dinner at the Council Rock Brewery, which is a tiny little place on 28, and was really impressed. No bottles, no growlers even... just by the glass. But really good. Might wind up there again tonight; we'll see where the day takes me. Have to actually get some work done at some point too.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 We also ate at Council Rock. In terms of investment, its the exact opposite of Ommegang although it is nice enough. There were a few too many flies buzzing arounnd the dining room the day we went.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2013 Author Posted October 16, 2013 Interesting. I noticed the flies thing too.Hit the Hall this morning, spent way too much on souvenirs and things on Main Street. Working for a bit back at the hotel, then I'm going to swing by Ommegang for an afternoon "snack."
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 There's the one little funky place right by the park in the town center, and I don't remember what it's called, but it's a nice one, with some atmosphere and nice bistro fare.OE: Alex and Ika.
