Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 I don't like that at all. And the RF threw a lollypop to the cutoff. Lets see, maybe d' is an RBI monster.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 I guess you have to squeeze Aar d'sma for all the pitches you can get from him tonight.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Ike woulda definitely been deader, then.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Dale Thayer is warming up for Than Diego.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 That's the third time Ive seen a slide like that this season (if I count the funny Manny .gif).
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 The Pads are Thayer's third team, and he'll probably play for three or four more before he's done, but the Padres are defintiely the team a guy named Dale Thayer should play for. Don't know why.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Whoa, Thayer lost the handlebar and gained a spare tire.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Can you ever have too many fish tacos?Speeding through to catch up on DVR, and just caught Guys' parents interview. Young d'Arnaud's mother is Marita, and has a "lot of cousins here?" And there's the accent.I can smell my own a mile away-- kid's half-Filipino. Who knew?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Definitely a mixed-race indyvidual. You, D'Arnaud, Rob Schneider, and Lou Diamond-Phillips oughta tour together.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 I don't deserve a place on the bill, for not guessing before now. (I had Lincecum pegged the first or second time I saw him.)Unrelated: if I were at this game right now, right now's about the time I'd be nudging seatmates to see if anyone had anything we could inflate and bop around. This game is like watching boring people get drunk while you're sober.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 By way of explanation, I'll go with "got bored on second."
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Those who made fun of Jaff should feel kinda crappy right about now. lil bit.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 (edited) Little bit. But I'd feel a little worse if I were named "Bentley" or something.Nice work from Torres. Terry should let him leave early for tapas. Edited August 17, 2013 by Guest
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Somewhere, there's somebody, probably more than one somebody, who was brought to this game to convince them of how wonderful baseball is.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 And just imagine if one of them made fun of Jaff pregame."Hotel California," SNY texters? Aw, man. I hate the fuckin' Eagles, man.

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Newt? I'll go with, "Lyndon Johnson walking past me in the other direction, when I don't have my glasses on."Speaking of resemblances: holy hell-- Quintanilla looks like a totally different dude without the hat/helmet on.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Have to go back to the Nieuwenhuis game for a game that was so flat despite the team being within striking distance the whole time.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 I've actually started flipping back and forth between this and an SNL rerun w/Martin Short, hoping to catch the royal-gynecologist sketch.OE: This one:[youtube:15bg3plh]r_dhdowetek[/youtube:15bg3plh]
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Well that really d'sucked'. I was getting a little excited about Mejia, lil bit, and this elbow business is more than a lil bit of a bummer. Hopefully just a temporary setback.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 This game was so long and boring I posted in the wrong thread
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 That game was the most boring seven hours I've ever spent.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 On the center-field platform... Is that supposed to be, like, hellfire? A chrism burner? A million-dollar flammable non-sequitur?

Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 my thoughts on d'Anaud so far:- For a catcher, he seems to have trouble, you know, catching;- He moves around way too much behind the plate (if i was pitching to him, i'd take him aside in the dugout and say "hold the fuck still and give me a steady target, or I'll put Icy Hot in your jockstrap.")- The next base runner he throws out will be his first (0-3 so far);- But he's pretty quick back there, and i think that will allow him to overcome these issues;- As a hitter, he hasn't yet;- He does have a good eye, and that's critical for his potential as a hitterSo i can see the tools that make him ab attractive prospect, but he's had a bumpy start and doesn't look quite ready. Perhaps he'll calm down and settle in, and let his skills take over.
