batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Strikeouts for savings when Mets face Padres starting tomorrow nightMets Fans Save on Tickets When Mets Pitchers Strike Out OpponentsThe New York Mets today announced the launch of "Strikeouts for Savings" when the Mets visit the San Diego Padres for a four-game series starting tomorrow night. For every strikeout Mets pitchers record during the series vs. the Padres, August 15-18, fans will save on future ticket purchases for Mets home games August 24-29 against the Detroit Tigers and Philadelphia Phillies at Citi Field. For every strikeout the Mets pitching staff records during the four games in San Diego, fans will receive one percent off the purchase price on tickets for the following sections: Baseline Box, Left Field Landing and Promenade Outfield. So if the Mets pitching staff records 20 strikeouts during the four-game series at San Diego, fans would save 20 percent off tickets purchased, 33 strikeouts would result in tickets being discounted 33 percent. The more strikeouts the Mets rack up the greater the savings for the fans. Matt Harvey, who leads the National League with 181 strikeouts, is scheduled to pitch on Sunday in San Diego. The Mets are averaging 7.3 strikeouts per game this season.Tickets for this promotion will go on sale beginning one hour after the conclusion of the game on Sunday, August 18 using the promo code STRIKES at Mets.com/strikeout.Tickets also will be available over the phone Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., or until the end of the fifth inning on home game days, by calling 718-507-TIXX. The offer concludes Thursday, August 29 at 2:00 p.m. All prices will round to the nearest dollar using traditional rounding techniques and ticket, order and delivery fees still apply.SNY will broadcast the games tomorrow and Friday nights (10:10 p.m.) and PIX11 will carry Saturday night's broadcast (8:40 p.m.) and Sunday afternoon (4:10 p.m.)Games Eligible for the Strikeout Offer:Saturday, August 24 vs. Detroit (4:05 p.m.)Sunday, August 25 vs. Detroit (1:10 p.m.)Monday, August 26 vs. Philadelphia (7:10 p.m.)Tuesday, August 27 vs. Philadelphia (7:10 p.m.)Wednesday, August 28 vs. Philadelphia (7:10 p.m.)Thursday, August 29 vs. Philadelphia (1:10 p.m.) http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20130814&content_id=56985792&vkey=pr_nym&c_id=nym
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 I knew Harvey was pacing himself for something.Isn't that kinda silly tho? So if our pitchers have a bad series, everybody suffers. ha

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 This promotion smacks of despertion.

I don't think I've ever paid "face value" for a ticket on the Excelsior level, even factoring in SH fees. Yet there are often better deals to be found through the Mets on the less desirable sections - like the ones they are offering for this promotion.

I was being a dick......as an example, I bought three tickets to the Futures Game on SH for $21.....I priced tickets in the same area at the ticket window on the day of the game and they were going for $50-$60 each.......of course that's day of game and not mets.com.a quick(very quick) look for tickets to the Seaver game V the Tigers has mets.com listing cheapest in the promenade at $35, SH at $26.....again, just a quick look.

Most of the games I went to this year so far were for free or via a friends unused tickets (or purchased by someone else) so I haven't been paying as close attention. Weekend summer still is in that higher tier so they're expensive via mets.com and probably have high "oops, I forgot I was on vacation that weekend" resale opportunities elsewhere.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 One of the problems with Mets.com is that you can't choose what section you want. For example, I wanted to buy tickets for a certain section for the Piazza HOF game because I knew that G-Fafif would be there (yes G, I was stalking you ). Mets.com wouldn't let us choose seats in that section, but Stub Hub did.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 15% and counting after Wheeler K'd 12 and Germen 3 on 8/16.I took advantage of a previous offer: 50% off for Baseline Box (106) in gratitude for my having availed myself of the ASG franchise 35 times. Each ticket was $45 + "convenience fee" of $5.50. Putting aside the convenience, I thought "not bad for field level. The Mets-approved price of $90 for the same seat...well, no wonder they were otherwise going empty.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 I plan to sneak in a game Tuesday. Keep striking out guys for me!
