The Schaefer Mets Player of the Month for July 2013 is first-time winner MARLON BYRD. Marlon hit .336 in July, leading the Mets with 5 homers, 39 hits, 20 runs, and 3 triples. He tied with Daniel Murphy for the team lead in runs batted in, with 20. Byrd had an OBP of .361 in July, and a slugging percentage of .569.


The Schaefer Mets Pitcher of the Month for July is DILLON GEE, who has finally broken the strangehold that Matt Harvey held on the title for the entire 2013 season so far. Dillon was 1-1 in July with a 2.88 ERA in five starts and 34.1 innings. This is the second time that Gee has been the Pitcher of the Month. His previous title was in September 2010.

The Schaefer Mets Relief Pitcher of the Month is, for the fourth time overall, and second time this season, BOBBY PARNELL. Bobby pitched in 14 games in July. He had 8 saves. 14 strikeouts, and a 0.60 ERA in 15 innings.


The Schaefer Mets Bench Player of the Month for July is first-time winner ANDREW BROWN, edging Kirk Nieuwenhuis (who finished the month in Las Vegas) by a razor-thin 0.01 points. (Brown scored 1.74 Schaefer points as a bench player in July, while Nieuwenhuis totaled 1.73.)

edit: Stokes' lawyers will argue that there should be no Schaefer Reliever of the Month for September 2007. The judge may find that argument quite compelling.

Schaefer must be blind to rate stats because Gee over Harvey doesn't compute, even with Gee pitching six more innings. Must've been Gee's extra fifth July start over Harvey's four that gave Gee the opportunity to outscore Harvelous.
