Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Mets prospect Bradley Marquez got an unusual signing bonus. The Mets agreed to let him go to Texas Tech and play football, but he gets more money if he sticks to the one sport. By leaving Kingsport and going to school to report for summer football practice, Marquez leaves a quarter million on the table.Sucky part is that lower level minor leagues don't start until June, so Marquez, in switching to the gridiron for the second half of the summer, didn't really get a lot of competitive reps in.His numbers, such as they are, don't say much, but the Mets must like him at least a little, seeing as they let him sport this look.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Yikes. Before I read all that I thought the pic was Valdespins mom.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 I thought I saw somewhere that this is supposed to be Mrs. Valdy's last season of gridironing, and that she's gonna be a real committed baseball player starting next year.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 At which she will discover baseball has no time limit: we don't know when it's gonna end -- might have extra innings.Though if she's been paying attention to the parent club at all, Mrs. V1 probably already knows that.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Kind of a goofy story here about two-sporter Bradley Marquez who spurned some of Wilpon's $$ to continue playing college football but is still an option presumably.http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20131010&content_id=62651182&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_milb&sid=milb
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 10, 2013 Author Posted October 10, 2013 We met Bradley in this thread, and saw Zvon tag him with the mother of all nicknames.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 LOL I forgot that thread, can you merge?
