Chaos as the 7 train is not running, God, I would hate to be stuck in that mess.

Yeah..that was a mess..and I didn't even take the train, but the traffic people were just as inept, refusing to let me use the Grand Central anywhere I went.

Took a friend home that'd parked at Secaucus and taken the train. as I pulled into the station people were streaming off the train in All-Star stuff, so either these were the bright people who took the LIRR or the trains basically caught up.

David just didn't want to mess up his swing by going for the fences. He could have won the thing if he tried!

Was at work and missed the competition. Just saw some video. When a ball was heading toward the stands, the scoreboard showed "BACK ... BACK ... BACK".
I guess they thouht that fans attending the game would really miss Chris Berman's call.

It's a rarity in sports: an event that seemingly made for a great live spectacle but turgid and drudging TV fare.

It really was a hoot watching shots travel to parts of the park I've yet to see, although I assume guys do it in BP quite often. Cespedes hit some line drive homers that really had to be seen live to be appreciated.

There was stuff going on during the TV breaks. Two high school kids competed and hit several monster shots with their non-wood (I have no idea what 'aluminum' bats are made of these days) bats. They actually went 9 and 8 in their first round (same format as the MLB guys) and 5 and 4 in the second, which was ten swings, homer or out. There were the usual scoreboard videos, a Frisbee-catching dog act (really) and the time passed pretty quickly for us. Getting home on the train was another story, but you can't really anticipate a track fire, can you? At least we saved $21 on LIRR fare, as they were just letting people onto the platform without taking tickets.
