Pitbull with the "anthem." Showing a handful of MFY home runs in the "New York home runs" montage leading the telecast. It's like they're DARING me to hate this.

The booing of Cano and the standing O for Sugar go a long way to leaven that burgeoning hatred.

Bring on the stupid-- I'm on drink number two, with a bullet!

Cuddyer acquits himself quite well there, with 7 first-round runs de home. Nepotism 1, Stupid French-Fry-Sandwich Lovers 0.

GOOD LORD, he is nasty. (I'm a little behind, on DVR.)

17? Holy Christ.

Correct me if I'm wrong-- nobody here's EVER seen one hit off the third deck... not even in BP, right?

That opposite-field "mistake" swing was kinda nuts.

Also kinda nuts-- the tween girl in center. She's a bruiser, isn't she?

agree, although he does seem to have mellowed out quite a lot.

I think that's the unpublicized prescription-painkiller addiction talking.

Brown Fauxhawk out in the first round, as White Fauxhawk puts up an 8. So, will Pirates fans boo Pedro Alvarez the next time they see him, or will they boo David Wright for choosing him?

Somehow, this is the first time BetterHalfer-- no big Derby fan, and NOT a football fan-- is hearing Berman.

The reaction: "Who IS this guy? I mean, are you KIDDING me?" I've scarcely been prouder of who I married.

Exactly. I counted 5 by Cespedes up there.

Since MLB honors everything that isn't under investigation, how about having the major league pitcher who has given up the most home runs prior to the All Star game throw out the first pitch of the Home Run Derby?

So who won? I assume Cespedes but tuned out after Wright hit.

Yep, Cespedes... in style, with the clincher in the shape of a 440-footer to dead center, over the apple.

You should have been there on Opening Day, or July 3.
