Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 I want us all to make note when a Met says the word "obviously" in any quote. Todays tally from quotes about yesterdays game:Recker: 1Wheeler: 1Wright: 1
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2013 Author Posted July 1, 2013 Obviously Wright does this every interview. I noticed this a while ago. Now I see other Mets doing it. I don't have a problem with it. Its interesting.
Guest Swan Swan H Guests Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Piazza would have run away with this in his day.

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Is "obviously" this generation's "You know"?(If anyone answers "obviously" I will hunt you down.)Later
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 Fran Healy IIRC was a master practitioner of obviously .

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2013 Author Posted July 2, 2013 Wright 2Satin 1I think I'll stop counting Wright. He seems to say it every single quote. Yea, Piazza did use the word regularly. I have to think the younger guys doing it is a trickle down deal from the Capn. Obviously thats a good thing.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 I think the faceofthefranchise guys who are obliged to face the media every day are acutely aware that the twin necessities of saying something every day, but saying nothing that's risky, has reduced them to patiently and charminlgy uttering little more than the bleeding obvious.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 If you were to include Chris Russo in this topic he'd retire the trophy inside a week.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 I "imagine" they're "coached," as all "players" are to some "degree." Whether or not they're coached to use the word "obviously" is not obvious to me.
