Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Gots to think his day is done. One out in the seventh and the tarps roll out.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Darling "this [the rain delay] might knock Harvey out"it HAD BETTER knock Harvey out... in a 6-0 game what point would there be in marching your young ace out there again after he takes a seat for so long? bring on the shitpen!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Impressed Savery got up to make that play on the liner by Harvey. Here's a screencap I got of the play:

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 And Byrd doubles in Wright. This is fun. Baseball is awesome again.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Byrd & Young certainly doing their best to answer those who want them out of the line-up.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Some no name first appearance rook Ks the side.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Nice cap to the afternoon, but that was a classic CBP-HRNot sure that's out anywhere else except Houston.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Wright homers, Byrd doubles, 9 extra-base hits for the Mets!

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 OK, so Revere caught that last out of the 9th and simply trotted in with the ball. Obviously at some point it becomes an out even though it doesn't transfer to his bare hand. I mean, if he were to drop it out of his glove and onto the mound while trotting past would the ump declare it a 'no catch'? I don't think so.That's why it always struck me as an odd bit a rule book minutia.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Unusual double play when Rollins stopped between first and second, but Murphy handled it perfectly and we're one out away.

If that call was against us (our fielder dropping it) I would have went ballistic.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Very good game. Harvey wins. Wright rocks. Mets roll.

It wasn't Yellow Brick Road great but it did not disappoint.

So even though there was a moment or two where the ball was solidly grasped in his glove, it's hard to argue that he ever had "control" of the ball.I don't know exactly how the rule is worded, but I think the spirit of the rule should be whether the fielder had control of the ball, where he could decide what he wanted to do with it; throw it to the infield, toss it into the stands, wipe his nose with it, lick it, whatever. Revere never really had that possession.
