Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 If I could see on TV that the ball hit nothing but leather how can that 2nd base ump not see it? He was pretty close looking right at the play.Tweety Byrd trying to get something started in the 9th.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 Oh joy. Now this is a proper tease. Tying run at the plate.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 I do appreciate the tease. It's........something.Mets lose again to the Cubs. The CUBS. The Mets are 15 games under .500? Come on, we are better than this.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 There's been a lot of competition, but this might have been the worst game of the year.- 3-1/2 hours of low-scoring slogging play- The Mets tried bunching the few hits they did get but still managed to leave most of the dinner out on the plate.- The Cubs offense consisted mostly of standing with their bats on their shoulders while watching Ball 3 and then Ball 4 - Only two errors but both were of the 'See Spot Run' variety- the only exciting play is one that the Mets, the Cubs, and the umps all messed up in some fashion- and I may have to re-check the exact stats on this but I believe the Mets set a single game record with 34 infield pop-ups

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2013 Author Posted June 15, 2013 Tick Tock Terry...tick tock...
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 I didn't watch the game, but I turned on WFAN in the car and found the postgame show. There was a lot of frustration in Terry's voice. I can't really blame him for not being able to win with this team, but I am sensing the odor of doom around him.Firing him wouldn't be entirely fair, but it may be inevitable.
