The Jackie Robinson Rotunda will now be referred to (by me
at least) as the Jackie Gleason Rotunda. No slight to Jackie
nor his lovely wife. Jackie Mason was a close second.

And the reason for beating this dead horse four and a half years after the stadium opened?

Can you imagine having to console yourself with coming in "close second" in a race won by Jackie Gleason?

Naming the Rotunda for me would sort of result in a homina-homina-homonym.

At least he was a Met. Sort of. Though I doubt any of the Wilpons know anything about JR.

Never had a logo on his cap on his baseball cards. In fact, he was lucky to even have a cap some years.

JR looks like a hard-boiled TV detective from the '70's. In the style of Mannix. Or Harry O. But not Cannon.

Handsome feller, looks like he could have moved onto the
western movie circuit with no problem.

Sticking with Gleason!

O Jackie

Never got my picture taken at #42, seemed pointless ....I don't feel any tug towards Robinson , if it were #41n in the lobby I would have taken many pictures.

The 42 has served as a useful meeting place from time to time, but I find something cheesy about it as a tribute, especially in the middle of a vast space that is all-encompassing in its reverence for the subject. Like displaying an elbow macaroni-speckled paper plate in the china cabinet to show your kid how proud you are that he thought of something, too.

Plans for a Jackie Heidemann Rotunda were in the works, but then obscured by a Vail.

When was the last time you were in this ridiculous
waste of space? My skin crawls every time I ride that
escalator.

So go in the back way, like Robinson used to have to do.

through the junk yards. Bad idea if you go this weekend, they have no drainage and will have standing water.

He really does. Looks like Lenny's head exploded and then they stitched it back together.
