Guest Kong76 Guests Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 The Jackie Robinson Rotunda will now be referred to (by meat least) as the Jackie Gleason Rotunda. No slight to Jackie nor his lovely wife. Jackie Mason was a close second.
Guest Swan Swan H Guests Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 And the reason for beating this dead horse four and a half years after the stadium opened?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Can you imagine having to console yourself with coming in "close second" in a race won by Jackie Gleason?

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Naming the Rotunda for me would sort of result in a homina-homina-homonym.

Guest Kong76 Guests Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Handsome feller, looks like he could have moved onto the western movie circuit with no problem.Sticking with Gleason!
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 O Jackie Never got my picture taken at #42, seemed pointless ....I don't feel any tug towards Robinson , if it were #41n in the lobby I would have taken many pictures.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 The 42 has served as a useful meeting place from time to time, but I find something cheesy about it as a tribute, especially in the middle of a vast space that is all-encompassing in its reverence for the subject. Like displaying an elbow macaroni-speckled paper plate in the china cabinet to show your kid how proud you are that he thought of something, too.

Guest Swan Swan H Guests Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 So go in the back way, like Robinson used to have to do.
