Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 I'll give Murphy this much : he knows what he's gonna do with the ball if its hit to him. No hesitation on that bad throw to second, and it was the play to make. I didn't think he had time but replay shows Cueto wasn't going to slide and would have been out with a good throw. Even seeing that play I feel Murphy is progressing nicely at 2nd. There's no doubt he's working very hard at it.

He also lacks the natural timing good infielders have. Two plays showed that clearly tonight - the rushed play you are talking about, and the slow hopper where he nearly lost the runner earlier. He deserves a ton of credit for the progress he has made, and I can't imagine that he won't work as hard as he has to. Then again, when you see Brandon Phillips everybody else looks like the Tin Man before the oil can showed up.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Sob. Phillips don't suck. Very nice catch.
Guest Swan Swan H Guests Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Well, better a leadoff shot than a three-run homer.

That was too close for comfort.Bruce juice makes it 4-3 them.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Gimme ten minutes with Ike and I'd fix him.
Guest Swan Swan H Guests Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Another K for Ike, hacking at a pitch nowhere near the plate.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Ike double switched out with the leprechaun coming in at first. Ike seeming not happy about it.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 I'd like to thank Dusty Baker for sticking his .250 OBA backup SS in amongst all his monster hitters. This game could be a lot worse otherwise.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Whew. Hawkins gets out of it. Very nice.
Guest Swan Swan H Guests Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Hawkins escapes another jam. Somehow it's only 4-3 Commie Pinkos.

Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 I'm ready to see a lot more of Turner and a lot less of Ike.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Turner takes one of Ikes at bats and uses it well.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Not sure I saw all that much in the previous inning for LaTroy to get all that steamed over (except for the fantom foul by Fillips that is but Hawkins seemed pissed even before then) but he did and now he and Terry are going to watch the rest of the game on TV.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Was Gary there in '73? At the playoffs?Justin time for a steal.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Gah! Don't be helping him Muffy! Its on Ankiel.

Guest Swan Swan H Guests Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Good swing by Ankiel, but an at-em ball ends the minor threat.

Maybe not one he'd tell publicly, but I'd love to chat w/him about the series. What he said leads me to believe he ran onto the field at the end. I'd like to hear some details about that.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Damn, what the hell is Broxton eating these days? Other players?
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Whenever Dudas hair sticks out of the lil holes on top of his helmet he does good.UGH, these umps. I guess he did swing (Byrd)
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Going to have to make the comeback against Aroldis.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 I'm glad Burke isn't striding toward the first base line as much, but he's still doing it a little. Can't see the upside to that.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 NICE PLAY MUFFY! He had to get rid of that ball wicked fast.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Muffie with the nice glove work to get the force.Chapman has blown his last two save chances, FYI.
