Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 I am coming out and declaring this one a Big Game which will Test This Team's Character and Show What They're Made Of.
Guest Swan Swan H Guests Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Four consecutive day games. I guess that happens relatively often when heading into a weekend series in Chicago, but it still feels odd.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 I love that lineup! #batmurphyleadoff
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Incredible lineup!!Leading off is the incredibly hot Daniel MurphyCatching is the incredibly handsome Anthony Reckerand sitting is the incredibly inept Ike Davis
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 I like it too. Byrd cleanup? Highly unorthodox!
Guest vtmet Guests Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 nice to see Terry take some advice for a change:vtmet wrote: ( Post subject: Re: IGT 5/17 Matt Harvey at CubsPosted: Fri May 17, 2013 9:41 am )Murphy swung the bat well yesterday...I normally like a fast guy leadoff, but that is in short supply on this team anyhow...so I say:Bat Murphy leadoff today...On Murphy's career when "leading off an inning": .297 average; .348 OBP; .511 slugging percentage; .859 OPS;10 HRs; 4 triples; 31 doubles; 165 "Total bases" in 348 Plate Appearances; This season when "leading off an inning":.292 average; .393 OBP; .583 slugging percentage; .976 OPS;plus, he's one of the few guys on the team that can hit both LHP and RHP almost equally well...
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 (edited) Murphy's not a bad leadoff hitter on this team, with this roster to pick from. But if both Turner and Murphy are in the starting lineup, I'd go Turner, then Murphy. Murphy [crossout:gar09vfd]doesn't walk[/crossout:gar09vfd] never walks against lefties, but has significantly more power that Turner. Edited May 19, 2013 by Guest

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 0-0 in the 4th. Haven't seen much of this game. Settling in now.OH! Sweeny OUT AT THIRD!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Slip by Byrd, double-pump by Tejada, and I thought Sweeney was in there.Goofy the way his arms got stuck under him, thought.

Jeeze Duds, your fuckin lucky that was called foul.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Horrible slide. I think the play was a lot closer than the TV guys did, though. An embarrassing muff by Duda on what thankfully was a foul ball proves inconsequential, and we're tied after 4.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Cubs announcers thought he was safe. It looked that way to me, too, though it's hard to be sure.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Amazing that Tejada's only non pop/fly-out in his last 97* consecutive ABs resulted in an inning-killing GiDP* I may be off by a few on this oneDillon's not going to get away with this lead-off doubles parade forever.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 'specially if he's going to serve up 2R HRs to opposing pitchers.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 The pitcher. The fuckin pitcher hits one way out of Wrigley. Onto the street. Geewhizzzzzzzzzz
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Dillon Gee would be awesome if games were four innings long.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Not an inspiring was to capitalize on a 3-0 count from Turner.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 I was hoping Sweenys homer would hit Gee in the face (on that smaller scoreboard). Another one of those littleguyhomers.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Thanks for giving away that run so fast, Gee. Enjoy Binghamton.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 I don't know. Wood will be out of the game soon enough, and then all those lefties will be of more use. Get Buck up there in a homerun park against a pitcher at the end of his rope. Or use him to force a pitching change.
