Close-and-late definitely seems to bring out the White Jerry in him.

lol

Im all for keeping Parnell in. Let him lose it.

Let him go three if he dont come up in this inning. Man, I'm really, really, pissed at Parnell. And its cuz he has everything it takes to be a fantastic closer.

See, I say I still believe in Whitestone, and there's nobody I can think of in Vegas that I'd dump him for, and hey, he's still pretty solid in the field and all... but then there's a rising liner hit his way, and he steps in, and I involuntarily cringe.

I'd like to think that the Turner bunt was due to Cichek being so tough on RHBs but he may have done the same with any other pitcher out there too.

Baxxy scares me now too.

This would be a nice moment for Ike to blast out if it.

And it makes me think mebbe he was put on this earth just to make that catch he made.

Yes, but Collins also pinch-hits Turner against ROOGYs.

Yeah, except that Cichek is a particularly nasty ROOGY who has trouble with leftys and it's at least arguable to bunt Redhead setting things up for the LHBs behind him.
Like I said, though, the flaw in that thinking is that Terry might have done it anyway.

In the meantime, one of the problems with Baxter is that he's been slotted in RF where he's got a well below average arm.

You know, if this game was in important one, like on the last day of the season for all the marbles, it would go down as a classic. Clutch pitching, a late run to tie it, suspense all the way through. So why does it seem like one of the most depressing games I've ever seen? This is just painful. At least Gary and Keith are having a good time.

Mainly because this game has been played at a snail's pace since the top of the 1st.
Top that off with the inept clutch hitting and it's not exactly going to go down as a classic.

Murphy goes way to his right again. Dobbs lack of speed helps, but a nice play nonetheless.

Come on, kiddo. Catcher up. Bear down.

Murph's killed this whole night. Even his outs have been bad.

Cuz we don't wanna be losing Harvey wins. I think that's why I'm the most pissed. And Parnell has been looking like he might be ready for the closer job and him not holding it is very, very worrisome. It was a perfect chance for him to up his confidence and take the part.

That's one slow catcher for a lean young guy. They coulda turned that DP twice with the way he was runnin'.

I felt like, for a guy who missed almost all of spring training, his start was going to be unsustainable.

But mostly, I blame the current offensive drought on Davis. Once they had to move him in the lineup it sort of acknowledged there was a sick patient among them and the disease just spread.

Well put.

Lagares, Recker, and the ghost of Wright available on the bench.

Rice remains in the pen, along with a starter or two.

That Ike is killing us is a given. That's been true all season.
But tonight's it's been Muffy simply because he's been up with so many runners on. Even when a productive out would be a big help he's failed miserably and repeatedly.

Lagares hit already.
Or, more accurately, he tried to do so
