"No, Mr. Met. I know the game is over, but why would we leave? Where would we go?"

Another satisfying nine innings at Citi Field, albeit another nine degrees in the stands. But when Harvey is on, it's balmy as all get out.

Beautiful young man.

Managers, stop pulling effective starters. Ninety-four pitches? Come on.

He did labor a bit in the last inning...1st start of the year; it was freakin' cold; he's still basically a rookie; Mets don't have a good injury track record; and the game was pretty much out of reach...Normally I agree on this point, but tonight I wouldn't have sent him back out for the 8th inning...

Total cliche of course but Harvey just looks like a pitcher.

...and a hitter.

and if Terry Collins was Tony LaRussa, Harvey probably wouldn't be batting 9th when he pitches...

2nd game of the season, cold weather, large lead, a near-rookie who's never pitched more than 160 innings in a year, coming off an off-day with relievers who have yet to see action ... I had no problem with it.

for the starters too though. Gotta incrementally go longer in the games. I mean, we know they probably won't got much deeper into the game than that with Harvey but I don't think him, or Niese, should jump to 110+ until they've done 100 a couple of times.

as far as the "they can use the work" concept...2 blowouts situations; wouldn't have been a good time to let rookie Jeurys "break the ice" in 2013 and get a little Familia with the Citi Field mound in chilly conditions? Terry used 7 out of 8 relievers, using the guys that he'd want to use Thursday afternoon in a tight game but didn't get the rook in for some experience when the games weren't on the line...

Hawkins looks 20 years younger than Atchison.

This point wasn't lost on me. Hawkins looks like a lean young athlete fresh from school and he's 40 years old.

I think I got more wood from the Doodoo homer than from Harvey's performance, although both were woody.

Duda...he got great wood on that homer.

We're talking about batting, right?
