What, no giant Seaver to join Fisk, Baines and Kittle?

That is truly bizarre.

The Mets should totally do something like that. Giant caricatures of Seaver and Strawberry and Hernandez and Piazza roaming around the ballpark.

eh, the giant people thing is played out. I propose giant representations of the five boroughs.

That would be weird. A large Staten Island with feet running around in the outfield.

no no no, it'd be a large dump obviously.

or is that the Bronx?

isn't it obvious? skyline runners.

you get people dressed as representative foam skyscrapers from the logo. maybe even get some poor guy dressed as a bridge.

Perfect. Get it so at the start they're arranged on the field to look like the Mets logo.

Or take a pass on a played-out attraction and do something original for a sideshow. Ice fishing or rhythm gymnastics. Give two kids remote controls to operate giant Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots

You know what would be fun? A name-that-Met contest. Do they ever do that? Put a big ol' baseball card on the scoreboard and redact the name and position. Start with a Mets Hall of Famer, or an obvious contemporary figure and then get more and more obscure. Topps could sponsor it.

they do that all the time. Maybe not the last year or two, although I remember Mike Nickeas' little league card.

I'd like to see the team adopt a house band that sits in the outfield seats with their guitars, bass, drums, etc. and plays rally a versatile set of music that's relevant to the game as well as establishing some in-game standards that resonate with the crowd.

I like your cats idea.

Updated from the blog: The way I see it, we could have giant mascot cats, each named after a beloved Mets player of the past. Youd have Mookie running against Choo-Choo, Casey, Rusty, Tug and Mikey.

They tried something similar, by having giant caricatures of Chris Young and Mike Pelfrey pitch every fifth day parts of the last couple of years. It didn't stir much excitement.

That one they had of Jason Bay was no fun at all-- nothing but an empty shell that looks like the guy? I mean, come on, promotions department.
