Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 You knew that run was going to be cashed in ... and you knew it was unlikely to be via an actual hit.But at least this time we held the bunter to only 1 base.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 I think the Rox have more total bases this series via bunts than the Mets do on actual swings.

Guest The Second Spitter Guests Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 If they ever make a movie about this team, it's gonna be called True Lack of Grit

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 I've never seen a team hit fewer balls hard (or even sort-of hard) than this one over the last two-three weeks.Five hits today, none were particularly hard, 4 were singles, 2 of those were by the pitcher, and the double was a soft bloop over 1st base. And it's not like the outs have been well-struck or the result of great defense from the other side.Somebody exchange the bats for wet rolled-up newspapers?
Guest The Second Spitter Guests Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Lets see if White Jerry has the balls to ph for that Moon-Faced Canadian sack of human excrement.
Guest Swan Swan H Guests Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Two well-hit balls in a row. A portent?

Hey, there's a run! Now all this means to me now is that we will give them back another next inning, but it's something.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Well back-to-back hits (both hard too!!) cuts the deficit in half.Note that this doesn't increase our chance of winning, it merely increases the odds that a different reliever will get absorb the loss.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Hey, Frankie, try not to set yourself on fire, mmmkay? Fucking hell.Hey, Zvon, I PM'd you some Fboy photo links for "kaboomage" Photoshopping in anticipation of his visit tomorrow to the kids tee at Citi Field.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Give Frankie credit, at least, for clearing out the parking lots early.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Adam Rubin ?@AdamRubinESPNFrank Francisco will be the closer next season. He's owed $6.5 million in 2013.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 If only Frank could hit the strike zone the way he hits coolers and Gatorade jugs.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 He will get the opportunity to redeem himself (or at least justify a roster spot) because the money is a sunk cost, but I have to think/hope the leash will be extremely short if he can't do better than this.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 The sad part is that, when Gary says that they just need another base-runner to bring the tying run to the plate, you say; "Yeah, so what? We've got no one on this team that can hit the ball out of the park anyway!"
Guest The Second Spitter Guests Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 (edited) This team's a fucking disgrace. I wonder if Ceetar still thinks that signing Bay was a better idea than signing Holliday? Edited August 22, 2012 by Guest
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 1) Throw the fucking pitch on time2) if you don't, first time warning ... second time ejectionNow THAT would get these pitchers from fucking around like this.It would also end Papelbon's career, so it's a win-win situation.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 One more and we get our HR hitter up ... you know, the one who hasn't HR'd in a month.
Zach Thornton Syracuse Mets - AAA LHP On Sunday, the southpaw tossed five shutout innings as the bulk pitcher. He gave up 2 hits, walked 2 and had 5 strikeouts. Explore Zach Thornton News >
