FUN FACT: the first 7 2/3 innings were pitched by pitchers with a combined ERA of 6.00, and letting up a combined average of 1.70 runners per frame, coming into tonight.

They let up 5 hits, 5 walks and 1 earned run tonight.

I turned it off when Valdespin bellyflopped into first base.

Even my kid's douchy MFY loving little league coach knows... they teach Fboy not to slide into first, and he didn't do it once all year. He's 7. What's your excuse, Jordany?

He was trying to win a footrace to the bag, it wasn't the dumbest thing ever. Credit to whoeverthefuck was playing first base for them, it was nicely executed defensively.

Of the 9 names in the Colorado column on the scoreboard last night, I knew the first name of only one of them -- Dexter Fowler. Their pitcher was wearing No. 6. That's pretty weird.

I'm trying to eat less so eschewed the new steak sandwich, the pulled pork, the Shackburger, etc and settled for a Shake-Cago Dog (and fries, and 3 beers, and popcorn. Oh well, I tried). The point is, the dog was pretty good.

The Mets fucking suck.

to avoid a tag, not to beat a throw.

Sure, and often with a hit to the first baseman and the pitcher covering, you're anticipating a potential tag play on you.

Meanwhile, the Jonathan Herrera bunt/error which essentially lost the game for us was also a head-first slide into 1st.
My conclusion is that head-first slides tend to work so much better when the defense makes bad plays as opposed to when they make good ones.

"Whoeverthefuck is on first"--Abbott & Costello work blue.

It looks like a 20-win season is not going to happen.

He's got 8 more starts probably. 5/8 isn't unreasonable. It's not like the Mets are forever going to score 1-2 runs a game.

Abbott: Now that's the first damn thing you've said right.

Costello: I don't even know what the fuck I'm talking about!

what are you talking about? We've already got 57 wins, and with 40 games to go, we should at least triple 20 wins. maybe more!

Most optimistic Ceetar statement ever.

I mean, it's true, but it doesn't feel true.

here's a negative one for you to balance it.

I leave for Amsterdam on 9/13. The Mets have 21 games. The Giants open the season on the 12th.

Do the Giants score more points before I leave?

Great seats last night courtesy of a friend, btw. It allowed us to get up close and personal with Kelly Shoppach's dogshit whiff as a pinch hitter which basically ruined Dickey's chances for a win.
