Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 The dog ate my homework. Let's see what we can wrangle together... with a little help from you guys?THE OVERVIEWThey used to look like this. Now... um... not so much.Tulo and CarGo and Helton and-- most recently-- Cuddyer got hurt. Scutaro was released. Hernandez was relegated to bench duty. Chris Nelson got gangrene. Fowler got... well, Fowler didn't go anywhere. But like the girl at the high-school reunion who's stayed skinny while all of her friends bloated... he looks somehow different for still being here. The pitching is STILL awful-- Drew Pomeranz leads the staff with a 4.87 ERA... and he's the only guy with a sub-5 ERA. It's just that the bats have ALSO deserted them. In short, they're just bruised up and terrible.THE LINEUP (*Lefties, #Switchies)No major changes, except for virtually every position on the field (save Fowler).I know top prospect Jordan Pacheco's starting at third now and doing pretty credibly there (.312/.343/.413). The slashy-hitting numbers seem to reflect his true talent (plus a little BABIP help), but he's really a positional vagabond-- having played every infield position while coming up (if none particularly well), he's like a right-handed Murphy with better hands. After being dicked around, PT-wise, earlier this year, the promising rookie backup Wilin Rosario has taken over behind the plate... mostly by becoming the guy he's replacing. He's righthanded, a shade under 6 feet, generously listed as "200 pounds," hits in the mid-.200s, slugs .500-plus (19 HRs in 278 PAs)... he's Ramon Hernandez with a taste for kipes instead of arepas.Similarly, SS Josh Rutledge is hitting like Lil' Tulo (.331/.349/.605) with a wind quota (22 Ks in 124 PAs). He'll be a pain.Everywhere else, it's AAAAers (Andrew Brown) and retreads (Eric Young, Jr.). This should be cake. Knowing our staff, it won't be.Anyone else care to chip in with rotation/'pen details?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 CarGo is on bereavement leave and will miss at least the first game of this series.Other than that I don't got nuthin'
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Eric Young Jr., who was rumored to be coming this way for Justin Turner in the preseason, has a .316/.377/.448 line.

Nothing prior to that either this year or before indicates that that's going to keep up.Other than him, apparently every name you recognize from this team is hurt and every name you don't recognize is currently playing, except for Giambi who's still fat and still PH-ing.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 It's going to come down to who doesn't want it less.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 I just spend 200 minutes with the Rockies and they are impossible to get to know.
