TV alert for out-of-towners or others not otherwise connected to SNY or EI packages -- this game will be on MLBN tonight (at least for much of the country)

And then Sunday's game is the ESPN national telecast as well.

GAH! Heyward smacks a two run homer in the 1st. Harveys gonna have to get the most out of what he's got tonight.

Meh, coulda been worse. He'll settle down. I think that lead off at-bat by Bourn set the tone for that inning. He really worked Matt.

Ouch. Harvey hit by a line drive off his leg above the knee. It goes as a 4-3 ground out (Uggla). Matt just brushes it off but that had to hurt. Hopefully he don't feel it til tomorrow.

Five walks already. Not good. Settle in Matt.

strategy point: doesn't count as a mound visit right? Wouldn't this be the perfect time to sneak Harvey a line from the scouting report? even if only the trainer goes out? (hey, tell him he likes it down and away..)

The ump is there for the whole visit, ears open. They need to develop some sort of code.

Warthen: Did it hit you down and away?
Harvey: No, in the thigh.
Warthen (winking and cocking his head to the side): Good because I thought it hit you down and away. Because down and away would be bad. Especially if it's a fastball. Now rub some dirt into it and give 'em hell.

I like your thinking, man.

Now all we have to do is get Harvey to quit walking guys and for the bats to quit hitting into GiDPs

And get a diving catch by ol' Hairy to save a run.

Harvey showing some composure here - a tough first, a couple of runners in the second, then really good after that.

Nice catch by Bourn. Crap, the way that was going away from him I thought for sure he wouldn't catch up to it. Woe is Bay.

Harvey done as Turner bats for him. I almost wanna turn it off now, but I won't.

Bleah. Another RISP left stranded.

I've seen this movie before. 2-run deficit, bulllpen in. This is where everything goes sideways.

OE: Typo

Crow, please, medium rare. Ramon Ramirez breezes through the seventh.

A Hairy two-bagger (which sounds like Fman's plans for the weekend) brings up Muffy with a chance to halve the deficit.

According to Billboard Magazine, post-game entertainers Mercy Me had six of the top fifty Christian songs of the decade 2000-2009.

The Mets offense, however, doesn't have a prayer.

Good one.
Murphy, your such a good hitter. Well, that's where we needed a hit. Mini-boo.

Uggla's 2-run homer makes it 4-0 Braves.

...and the sideswaysness begins.

It's depressing when you feel it's not a matter of IF the game gets out of reach but merely how it happens.
The Braves have, what, 3 hits all game?, and yet we've never really been in the game.
Might have something to do with the 47 ground balls Met bats have hit tonight.

Posted

Do the Mets even give a crap any more? What happened to the "great make-up of this team" that we heard about?

Posted

Just thinking that. Show some fight, boys. Don't make me drive all the way down there tomorrow for you to take a nine inning dump.

The Mets as a team are inconsequential.

You are down 4 runs. You need baserunners more than anything. So you put Valdespin up first? And not Baxter?

Terry, you are an idiot.
