I guess nobody's watching the game today. (I'm not either.) I just checked the score online, though. Scoreless, Mets batting in the bottom of the third. So far they've had one single by Murphy.

Several tweets about Valdespin, but not saying what he did. What happened?

Got a couple of hits, but I don't know if that's what the Tweets are talking about.

Mattingly comes and gets the starter with 1 out in the 5th even though he still has a lead.
Not sure if this is a good thing or not. We weren't exactly hitting him (most hits were soft) and K-ing a lot, but he was also up around 100 pitches already and so in comes the lefty to face Ike & Muffy with men on.

And neither of them come through and we leave two runners on for the 2nd inning in a row.

btw for youse outta-towners, this game is on TBS

Wow -- Nieuwenhuis got a hit! And off a LHP too!
I think that's his first since sometime in May although I'll have to check the records on that.

Mets robbed, Ike was safe!

I don't like the Valdespin bunt, inviting them to walk our best hitter with 1B open, thankfully they turned down that invitation.

We should probably consider ourselves lucky just to get it tied considering that only one hitter that inning got the ball out of the infield.

Sticking with Parnell. Right move.

Sorry now that we got only 12 pitches total out of Rauch and Byrdak.

Was that a straight sacrifice or more of the bunt-for-a-hit-and-take-the-sacrifice-as-a-backup-plan move?

It's almost like Parnell decides ahead of time what he's going to throw on that particular day.
Last week there was that outing where he threw nothing but curve-balls. Today everything is on the outside half.

It kind of doesn't matter since bunting for a hit doesn't work when everyone is looking for it.

Well, it matters because I asked.

So who's left on the bench? Just Hairy & Bay, right?

Cedeo also. All righties.

NOW I wouldn't mind a bunt with Nickeas and leave it up to Hairston & Tejada.

oe: Oops, I had the batters in the wrong order ... never mind

It is certainly not outside the realm of possibility that, while warming up in the pen, he sees his curve feels particularly good/bad that day and uses it accordingly.
