Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 I guess nobody's watching the game today. (I'm not either.) I just checked the score online, though. Scoreless, Mets batting in the bottom of the third. So far they've had one single by Murphy.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Several tweets about Valdespin, but not saying what he did. What happened?

What happened?Got a couple of hits, but I don't know if that's what the Tweets are talking about.Mattingly comes and gets the starter with 1 out in the 5th even though he still has a lead. Not sure if this is a good thing or not. We weren't exactly hitting him (most hits were soft) and K-ing a lot, but he was also up around 100 pitches already and so in comes the lefty to face Ike & Muffy with men on.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 And neither of them come through and we leave two runners on for the 2nd inning in a row.btw for youse outta-towners, this game is on TBS
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Wow -- Nieuwenhuis got a hit! And off a LHP too!I think that's his first since sometime in May although I'll have to check the records on that.
DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 I'm a-feared they are coming back to normal. They are what they are-- and Turner sucks.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 But the leadoff hitter is on and this is a chump we can beat.Don't bunt w/Valdy!!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Not my favorite play, but at least it worked.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 And, once again, it'll be up to the lefties - and Mattingly doesn't have one in the bullpen.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Gotta watch out for that double play here.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Got that hole over at first because they have to hold [crossout:17o7kywm]Tejada[/crossout:17o7kywm] Wright on.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Bad call at first: Davis obviously safe.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Would've been a close play at home if Loney fielded that one cleanly.C'mon Lucas, send 'em home.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 We should probably consider ourselves lucky just to get it tied considering that only one hitter that inning got the ball out of the infield.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Sticking with Parnell. Right move.Sorry now that we got only 12 pitches total out of Rauch and Byrdak.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 So who's left on the bench? Just Hairy & Bay, right?

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 It's almost like Parnell decides ahead of time what he's going to throw on that particular day.Last week there was that outing where he threw nothing but curve-balls. Today everything is on the outside half.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Well, it matters because I asked.Frayed Knot wrote:So who's left on the bench? Just Hairy & Bay, right?Cedeo also. All righties.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 NOW I wouldn't mind a bunt with Nickeas and leave it up to Hairston & Tejada.oe: Oops, I had the batters in the wrong order ... never mind
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 And now my previous thought is back on: Bunt w/Nickeas and avoid the potential GiDP
