Some random bullpen stats I crunched today.

Manny Acosta, with 33 runs allowed, is still tops in the National League among pitchers with no starts. Heath Bell is second with 28.

The non-Acosta relievers are pitching to a 3.77 ERA.

The bullpen with Manny Acosta in it was posting a 5.54 ERA.

Since the last time he appeared in a game, the Mets bullpen has posted a 4.07 ERA.

League average is 3.85.

C. Young. So close to Cy Young, and yet so far.

Won a lot more games then Anthony, though.

I guess it's a pretty safe bet that Young is the winningest name in baseball history. Johnson is probably second. Maybe Niekro third.

No Valdespin against the righty after what he did last night? He could have started in CF for Torres (they want to give Bay ABs, I guess).

yeah, it's annoying, give Bay at bats until a crucial spot in the 9th comes up then pinch hit for him.......is playing Bay coming from the FO? I can't imagine Collins wants to play him....

Adam Rubin ?@AdamRubinESPN
TC said he needs to maximize outfield defense w/ Chris Young pitching, hence Bay, not Valdespin. TC said he'll still "mix and match with Bay

That makes sense but Duda is out there.

Rubin also says that Rauch will be available tonight. He was not available yesterday after having both knees drained.

We should be soon down here in S.J.-getting all the warnings now. What happens if this game is a wash?

Mets go back in mid-August for a weekend series. Could play two on Saturday (7:05 scheduled game) or Sunday.

Capital Weather Gang ?@capitalweather
Per earlier tweets, while chance of rain delay or two, Nats should be able to play..these are not constant, continuous storms.

Murphy up. Peerless builds America's best boilers. he went 2-2 last night after entering late as a pinch-hitter...

... and he skies that shit to right. Morse puts him away.

Lombardozzi leads off and flies to the track.

Some kid named Harper up now and Young wants nothing to do with him.

Lines to left-center. Bay steps in front of Torres for the play.

Get in the game, Crane Pool.

Ryan Zimmerman stepping up...

... matches his Norfolk playmate David Wright with a two-out double.

Terry said on his WFAN interview that he wanted Bay out there because Valdespin's an infielder and with Young and a lot of fly balls he wanted the experience. Duda's not great for sure, but he's the 'regular' and is vastly experienced as compared to Jordany.

What do you go for --- athletic skills or experience. At a corner outfield spot, it's a tossup.

Also going for the introvert over the extrovert.

You don't want to miss t-shirt night against the Dodgers. First 20,000 get a Dodgers t-shirt. HAH!

Duda digging in. Sore hammy. Collins sez he's not running any slower than usual.
