The Mets return to real baseball with a night game at Wrigley Field which is still kind of weird after 25 years but fuck it, a new day, a new game, this is a turning point for the Mets. Our Team Our Time. We Believe In Comebacks. The Magic is Back. Ya Gotta Believe!

Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrr!!!!

Johan "Hey, I'm Still Pretty Good" Santana starts for the Mets against the Cubs' Travis "No Relation to Kerry" Wood.

Just have to look at that lineup to know that this Travis Wood guy is a lefty

[looking up his stats] His 33 hits in 41 IPs so far this season is a good ratio.
His 19 BBs over the same span not so much and hopefully that plays into this lineup's strength.
We faced him once when he was with Cincy in 2010 - got him for 5 runs (3 earned) over 4-2/3.
Wright had a single and triple in 3 ABs

On the other hand, he stroked an RBI triple off Pelfrey (the 2nd of back-to-back 3Bs) as part of a 6-run 5th and the Reds went on to win the game. Wood though got rocked in the bottom of the 5th and didn't last the inning so didn't get the win.

The NY road greys and blue caps look exceptionally good at Wrigley.

They do. And on MLB.TV the HD image is really showing this. Must be that low sun. Very vivid colors.

That's a really crooked C.

It's a good thing that Wood didn't get a hit or the whole team would want to wear a crooked logo on their helmets.

Nothing notable will happen until we get this IGT to page two. Lets go!

Wright doesn't get his daily hit in his second at-bat.

Johan keeps his helmet logo affixed correctly.

We're making Travis look like Kerry, circa 1998. Other than Wright, there is no one who's shown the ability to drive the ball on a halfway consistent basis. I'd say they should start lifting weights but I'm sure that would lead to more injuries.
