And Dickey promptly gives up 1B and 2B to Votto and Phillips, threatening to give those two runs right back.

Murphy chased a foul pop down the right field line and caught it with his back to the plate. Whirled and threw home to gun down the runner who tagged and tried to score from third.

Getting out of that inning unscathed could prove fortuitous later on ... until the bullpen blows the lead after we catch up of course.

Nickeas up there to bunt with 2 on, no out. Baxter in the on deck circle.

Hoover pitching.

Frazier bobbles bunt, and its bases loaded, 0 out for Baxxy.

Baxter sacflies Davis.

4-3.

I know that catching a knuckleball is difficult, but if Nickeas can't catch Dickey then why is he on the team? For his hitting ability?

Clutch bunting, obviously. (And meaningful squinting.)

Torres is starting to look like bad Pagan at the plate.

If this team were
a) capable of hitting a long ball
and
B) capable of holding a lead
I'd be feeling pretty good about this game right about now.

I take back all the good things I ever said about Torres.

Neiuwy whiffy.

Bases loaded, 0 outs and we got 1.

At least three appetizing middle-in fastballs for Nieuwenhuis, including the one on which he whiffed.

They'd be murdering teams if they could freaking hit a home run once in a while.

More home runs @ Philly than @ home in 30% of the games.

Chapman-- the ostensible "8th-inning guy"-- comes on to face Met-order-meat Wright, Duda and Murphy. (NOT Duda and Murphy, mind you.)

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I wish our manager was more like Dusty Baker.

Sugar works a leadoff walk against Chapman.

Hey White Jerry pitched Rauch and it wasn't even the 8th! I thought my scoreboard was wrong!

Doodoo with a single!

1st & 2nd, no outs for Muffy.

I wish he was more like Dusty Springfield.

Stubbs in center can't make the catch. Bases loaded.

Muffy reaches on an error.

Myrna Turner with 'em loaded as PH for Davis.

Turner sacflies on first pitch. Tie game and Doodoo to 3rd.

Bases-loaded/no-one out ... I'd say we have an outside shot at scoring this inning.

(Yes, I'm playing Mr. Pessimism Guy today)

Except that it's not like Dusty is doing this in order to have Chapman face the meat of the order. He's as locked into the '8th inning guy' thing as anyone.

It's the 7th. On the road.
