Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Yup, he's on the new seven-day DL after Ty Wiggington nailed him in a play at the plate.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Finally a big hit!I was thinking this game was destined to see about 2.3 LOBs/inning.Now we just have to make sure that Dickey's hand isn't broken and we're OK.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 "Omigod, that Tiesto drop is sick!"[Applauds wildly, whoops]- Diehard Marlins fans enjoying today's game from the Clevelander
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Between the beard and the thousand-mile-stare, Nickeas today looks like he's auditioning for a community-theater production of "The Deer Hunter."
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Starting pitchers have to taken out with one shot
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 12, 2012 Author Posted May 12, 2012 geeze, so when do we seriously start talking about Wright hitting .400?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Mike Baxter: Pinch-hitting doubles machine
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 12, 2012 Author Posted May 12, 2012 the guy broadcasting with McCarver: "How does All-Star R.A. Dickey sound?"
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 This guy with McCarver is a genius.Love the nonstop insurance-runnin'. Foot-on-throat is a new concept for this team.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 A performance like this after yesterday's disappointment feels like winning a million bucks on a giant fish-pachinko machine.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 12, 2012 Author Posted May 12, 2012 Ike Davis and David Wright are hitting .288 combined.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 I could have done without seeing the Marlins knock out 13 hits - although holding them to three runs while doing so is certainly OK (even if probably not repeatable). But we issued fewer walks, fewer HBPs, ran the bases better, played better 'D', and had 16 hits of our own - so there!
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Two opinions from Tim McCarver from this afternoon's Mets game on FOX:1) Tim is sure that Strawberry's moon-shot '88 homer off the Olympic Stadium roof in Montreal was the longest HR ever hit in the history of MLB. And Tim's taking that opinion to his grave.2) The Mets ain't gonna re-sign David Wright: it can't be done given the team's financial mess.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 That was fun! Only question I would have is did Terry need to use so many pitchers in a blowout win?
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 I thought it was a 4 PM start. I missed nearly the entire thing... caught the last two inning on the iPhone while sunning myself in the backyard. Nice win for the good guys.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Howie Rose paid tribute to Tim McCarver on today's radio broadcast and as he recounted the groundbreaking work McCarver had done as a Mets broadcaster it broke a brother's heart to think what he has slipped into.My other observation on today's game is that if the team had played a little more cleanly, they'd have gotten 15 runs. It's a blessing that they're coming up with these two out hits, but so often that comes after being unable to make productive contact with runners in scoring position and one or no out. Or after baserunner blunders in the face of what contact they've had.
