Are we certain Jose Lima is dead?

I don't imagine Acosta is going anywheres just yet, but I'm curious what happens, as Sandy has a nice basky day off to drink lemonade and think about it.

teams showed a quick hand in the past, with promotions and releases and what not. I think Acosta probably has some cache of good appearances over the years built up to save him, but the other two have no place.

I might consider something like making Manny the long/spot man. Remember when we had Aaron Sele on the roster all year and never needed him?

Okay, fine, Acosta can be the third guy out the door.

I'd keep him in the organization; let him see if he can get his act together in Buffalo. Schwinden too, I suppose.

Batista should probably just be released.

oh, we needed him. he got a lot of work down the stretch somehow.

edit: looked it up. not really a lot of work, but five September appearances, and only managed not to give up a run once. (that crazy game against Florida a week to go on the last day of RFK)

he retired after that. I hadn't known that.

Aaron Sele: strange contributor to the September collapse. He had gone all year without starting and when they needed someone the last two weeks they were willing to go to anyone but him.

Meanstwhile, I guess a part of this is losing the left and rightfielder simultaneously.

Or... they send the team into a tailspin from which they never recover. I've seen that more than a few times.

Yup.

It seems they changed into their "Born Loser" costumes a little early for the flight home.

Christ, just saw the meatballs Schwinden served up for the home runs, looked tasty.....couldn't have been right down the middle if he tried. Not at this grade mate, sorry.
