If Glavine wasn't sufficient cause to burn 47 Batista was, but Familia can restore it to the Orosconian glory it once held.

Batista seems like five years ago to me. I imagine he'll be the last-ever former-Expo Met, looking to join the last-ever Sentators and Pilots and Milwaukee Braves and such.

Was there ever a St. Louis Brown who became a Met? Probably, right?

So they're not retiring Beltran's number, eh? Or Beato's, for that matter.

Pascucci wore 15 last season even. travesty in my opinion.

Somewhere Craig Swan is turning over somebody on his rolfing table. And Dennis Cook is beating the snot out of a men's room paper towel dispenser.

My guess is that his first name is pronounced "Joris" rhyming with "Boris".

Unless it's something personal and weird-- and, though it very well could be, he's never given any public indication that it is-- Spanish pronunciation would dictate that it's either "Hey-YOO-rees" or "HYOO-rees."

presumably one of the beat guys will ask him, and hopefully he won't do the same thing he did to Ted Berg and say "I'm Familia" "I'm Familia"

Jeurys Familia: Jeurys Familia is the only person ever named Jeurys to play affiliated baseball and, based on quick Googling, by far the most notable Jeurys in the world. As such, it seems like no one has any idea how to pronounce it. Ive heard HAY-your-is, but the Buffalo broadcasters say JAY-or-EES. I tried to settle the matter myself when I interviewed him this year by introducing myself. Im Ted, I said, extending my hand. Familia, he said as he shook.

I suppose you're right. I think what I should have said is that I've been mentally pronouncing it as "Joris" whenever I read his name. But that's not at all likely to be correct.

If it was 1959 they'd be calling him 'Jerry.'
