Terry Collins is going to be doing a tweet thing at 10:30 Friday morning, according to an e-mail newsletter I got from the Mets.

I wouldn't even know how to participate, but here are the details, in case it means anything to you and you're interested:

Did anybody do this? I'm a little curious to know how many times Terry used the word "energy."

none yet. he's still responding. (doing so without retweets, which makes it difficult to figure out what people asked too)

Twitter is a stoopit forum for this kinda thing. Can't see the answers and questions at the same time.

@Mets what are the chances some of these young guys like @UpperDekker or Harvey actually break camp with the team? #askTC

@vlams @UpperDekker There are no crystal balls to determine who's going to be on this team.

Can we read into him including Matt in the response? probably not.

@PositiveMetsFan Our job is to put a product on the field that fans can be proud of. Often times negativity is our motivation.

On a different approach in ST for his second year.
@ontheblack yes I will. With the name changes on our roster we need a change.

@PeaceOfSound our game is about pitching - we need to pitch better

@ebann5 This is the big leagues - it's about execution. This game is played on the field, not in the papers

'as the favorite' not 'as our second baseman'
@PaulLCNY Dan's work ethic will get him past his leg injury. He is coming into spring training as the favorite to be at second base.

@bmfc1 we need to improve our bunting, there is no question.

Ike Davis is projected as hitting 4th.

On under the radar guys to keep an eye on
@_R5_ On every good team there is a surprise, someone you do not expect steps up and no one knows who that will be.

Ceetar posted the answer, my question was:

bmfc1
@mets Terry, are you going to practice bunting more this spring? The team showed that it couldn't bunt (other than Jose) last year. #askTC

I wanted to ask "why the hell did you bunt so much, especially with Turner who sucked at bunting?"

Yeah, I had to click on the folks profile to find their questions. And some of them were twitter addicts, so the question was buried 10 tweets down.

And, of course, the Twitter character limit turns into a limit on meaning and nuance, which is exactly what you hope to suss out in interviews. But Twitter is dominant and that's what we get.

I mean: The closer the Francisco. Thanks for that. I guess the big scoop I got was that the STI he was most into getting a look at was Matt Harvey. Clearly some of their starting pitching prospects are expected to be getting some big league starts.

Twitter 'style' suggests you retweet something you're responding to. but in these one-off things guys like Collins and Wright or whoever aren't really thinking about that type of thing.

metsblog aggregated a lot together:

@Lisa_LBR: If Johan isnt ready, who is your Opening Day pitcher?
Terry Collins: Havent decided yet.

@Lisa_LBR: How many innings are you hoping to get from Johan this upcoming season?

Terry Collins: Were trying not to put a number on it but hopefully looking to get 25 or more starts.

@billserpe: Who do you project as the clean-up hitter heading into spring training?

Terry Collins: As we sit here today, Ike Davis.

@danXtanna: There r a lot of restless #Mets fans w/ the loss of Reyes. Would you agree you dont need superstar SS to win?

Terry Collins: To win you need a good shortstop, whether hes a super star or not and we feel Ruben Tejada is that type of guy.

@peachtreecafe: Who are some of the big names that the Mets have been looking to add in the near future?

Terry Collins: we are looking at our young players the key to winning is pitching and we have some good pitching on the way.

@metspolice: in retrospect do you wish you had played Duda in RF and say Evans at first a little earlier last year?

Terry Collins: No because we had Beltran in RF until he got traded.

@brianerni: will you try and hit-and-run more this year in an effort to make up for a decrease in team speed?

Terry Collins: Thats a very, very good question. Obviously we have to do a better job of getting players in scoring position & thats one way.

@JedSmed: Terry, serious question: how are you going to replace the speed you lost with Reyes departing?

Terry Collins: You can not teach speed, but you can teach good base running.

@allthingsandy: How can u seriously expect fans to pay to see a team whos only move this offseason involved a wall?

Terry Collins: This game is played on the field and the team that plays best wins, not necessarily the best team.

@Lisa_LBR: Do you envision having one 2nd baseman, or will it be a shared job?

Terry Collins: were hoping there will be a main guy but well need others to help out.

@ontheblack: with 1 yr under you belt as Mets Manager will you have a different approach going into this spring training as oppose to 2011?

Terry Collins: yes I will. With the name changes on our roster we need a change.

@bmfc1: Terry, are you going to practice bunting more this spring? The team showed that it couldnt bunt (other than Jose) last year.

Terry Collins: we need to improve our bunting, there is no question.

@StanClose: closer?

Terry Collins: Francisco

@danXtanna: are you worried Wright trade rumors could distract him & the team?

Terry Collins: David Wright is a true professional he understands that rumors are part of the business.

Terry Collins doesn't really seem to put up with a lot of "Woe is us" underdog type mentality. It's like a subtler Rex Ryan. He even said last spring that they expect to be the last team standing.
