That's a lot of questions. My issue: is this related to the broken back?

I wouldn't think so, so far removed from it supposedly being healed, but who knows.

ooh, it'll be a lot of fun following the media criticism of which players do and do not show up.

Show up for what?

Supposedly, The Tejada Groin is the last straw for Terry Collins, and he has spoon-fed the media their day's story by publicly blowing a gasket.

I wonder if he privately or publicly links Tejada's groin to him reporting "late" to camp.

David Wright said he has small tear in his rectus abdominus. "It sounds a lot worse than it is." Expects to be in opening day lineup.

that's the "six pack abs" muscle. lay off the weights dude..

Sounds like 'good' news, but on the other hand an actual tear is more than tightness and perhaps means more caution. Shouldn't be much beyond OD if he doesn't make it though.

Failure to recover with conservative treatment often ends up being one of the best indicators for surgery.

That's sort of inane, isn't it? Sort of like failure to win your felony trial often ends up being one of the best indicators for imprisonment.

Keith went into a mini-rant the other day about the emphasis on core training and the seeming explosion in oblique injuries.
"I never did a sit-up or crunch in my entire career ... hell, I didn't even know what an oblique was!"

yeah. probably. I think it's making the assumption that if it doesn't heal, it's not that it needs more time, it's that it needs to be fixed. there was some thought that Wright had plateau'd in his recovery, which concerns me.

Keith certainly goes on and on about that. I tend to agree, but neither of us are experts on muscles.

On Zimmerman

Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman, a close friend of Wright's, suffered a similar injury during spring training last year, required surgery and missed nearly two months. Wright is not that concerned at this stage, but he has yet to play in a game since the discomfort first described by the team as in the "rib-cage area" surfaced 10 days ago.

for a team that really can't afford any injuries this ST has been awful.

Wright's agent will not let David on the field anything less than 100 percent..Its almost payday.

So Zimmerman lost 3 months to this but with David its' no problem?

I will be shocked if David plays any games in April.

No, Zimmerman lost 3 months because he re-injured himself during the season and required surgery.
Wright's not at that point.

Well some good work and caution on the Mets part have kept Wright from possibly reinjuring it. But I guess it's still a possibility that it doesn't heal fully without surgery. I wonder if ultrasound guided cortisone is the conservative methods Zim tried.

I had a girlfriend in college that let me tear into her rectus. She was a wild one.

Wait, what?
