Mets greats drafting their teams.

I guess we'll have to wait a few weeks for the great conflagration of black uniforms.

High-tech!

The coaches take the games very seriously. Rumor was that they would make bets. I know that Buzz Capra was very happy when we made the finals and surpringly upset after we lost the championship game.

I want to, feel like it'd be fun.

edit: can't find prices for it. I thought it was expensive.

I've also never been eligible for it.

And he was kind enough to chronicle his journey for FAFIF, indexed here.

Clearly, he shook Jerry Grote's hand.

Grote wasn't there. The story goes, Camp lore, that he was fired years earlier for making his wife a coach. Campers wondered why Mrs. Grote was a coach when it was supposed to be an actual ex-Met, not an ex-Met's wife.

I guess Edgy's joke was too "inside."

$4300 isn't a bad price, all things considered.

It was a Sinatra thing? Like they talk about in Ocean's 11?

Johan long tossed in Pt. St. Lucie today which means that he probably shared a locker with the fantasy campers.

I went in 2002. It's the most fun you can have with your clothes on.

I played for Duffy Dyer's team. Played LF, RF and first. Even pitched an inning, ended my career with a 18.00 ERA, and treasured every second.

On the final day in the big stadium, faced Bob Apodaca. First pitch, swing and a miss. Second pitch took for a ball, Grounded the third pitch to short and the throw just barely beat me. And by 'just barely' I mean 10 feet.

Did you guys hit the batting cage first? I feel like if/when I go to Fantasy Camp, I'm gonna spend like a year in the batting cage before hand.

I went to a batting cage a few times and even took two hitting lessons but when you haven't hit live pitching in decades, it doesn't help very much. You can get hitting lessons from one of the coaches if you get there early.

I got hitting tips from Mickey Brantley, who was hilarious. Told me I was gripping the bat too tightly and to treat it like it was a part of female anatomy that you, ahem, wouldn't grip as tightly.

I was 3 for 10 so I guess it worked. Lot of competition for the batting cages so getting there early was key.
