Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 Didn't know he had that many pinkies. Most folks just have two.He really is special!

Wright's current pace (36 hits in 30 team games) accounts for him missing 10% of this season's games (3 out of 30) because of his pinky injury. A healthier Wright going forward projects to breaking Krane's record before 9/14/12. OTOH, Wright probably won't be hitting at a .375 clip all season long either.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 Yeah, I think ceetar was the one not giving you credit for accounting for that. Grimmy was just having fun with that.

I was just trying to look for a way for him to do it at home!so I guess if broken pinkies is factored in we should look for him to break it earlier..they're home the series before that Brewer series.

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Wright now needs less hits than games played to take this lead this season. the poetic way would be for that hit to be a walk-off NL East clinching hit.

Horrified it fell by the wayside by my reckoning somewhere between April 5 and now.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 perhaps an error changed to a hit sometime after the game and no one mentioned it?

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 found it. You only credited him with 1 hit in your update from through 4/20 in your next update through 4/25 he actually had a hit on 4/24 and 4/25.

I went back and corrected his progress from then to now out of a combination of concern for the historical record and my own disgust for letting this slide. Can't blame the umps for this one.

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Is it..tacky? of me to want the Mets to get involved in this in September if it's a near certainty he's going to pass it? I know 1418 isn't all "OMG HALL OF FAME!" but can we an update on the scoreboard or (maybe fans with an updatable banner?) Kranepool throwing out a first pitch to Wright or something?
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2012 Author Posted May 14, 2012 They made a middling deal of David passing Straw for the RBI record, so I assume they'll acknowledge it and then some, unless they're overly conscious of the cheap comparisons the Greek chorus in the media will make to the last guy in New York to set a franchise most-hits record.Hopefully they'll really blow it out when he reaches 2,000 and, perhaps, 2,500 in a Mets uniform.

As is, he has a pretty good chance to become the second Met in less than eight months to get his 1,300th hit against the Reds.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 maybe he's mad cause if he got plunked that'd put him back at .500 OBP.
