I always figured we could use a random thread for Mets related minutia. or baseball related anyway.

Did you know that The Sporting News picked the Mets to finish 2nd behind the Expos in 1993, with the one sentence justification of "Let's just pretend last year didn't happen" ?

They also have a photo of Gooden with the caption "This Dr. needs a prescription"

Does he work for Pepsi or something?

Hell yeah, Eddie Murray! 3,000 hits, 500 homers, cool name ... what's not to love?

Rather low Metly quotient, though.

Wouldn't it make a lot more sense to have Seaver, or Strawberry, or Gooden, or Wright, or Mookie? Or any of about two dozen others?

Gooden was once photographed with a Coke can. instantly disqualified.

Because only so many ex-MLBers (a.k.a. legends) are participating with Pepsi. The only Mets are Piazza, Murray and Henderson.

Ballot here.

@dmhudgens ya it's always a good feeling getting back on the field for the first time! Enjoy your holidays!

Is anyone surprised that Murphy and Turner found time to take some swings the second they saw Citi Field?

I guess they were in the cage, but I like the thought that they went out and took some cold-weather cracks at the whatever's representing the new fences.
