Gaby. Anibel. Nearly the fifth anniversary of Duaner's midnight ride.

Let's get out of Miami Gardens alive.

Once again, not on TV at my house. I keep taking it in the crudder.

Well, at least I'll have the dulcet tones of Denver mercenary dullard Wayne Hagin to soothe my savage breast.

Also, it looks like Prince Fielder decided to suck while Reyes was laid up, to keep the MVP race close. looks like Matt Kemp could be the other guy right now.

Of course, Prince has the whole 'playoff' race thing going for him, something the Mets seem to want to refuse to actually participate in. The Braves went 4-4 over the last 8..would've been easy to make up a couple of games..

Just in case you thought you were imagining things, you're not:

Gaby Sanchez career: .279/.351/.463
Gaby Sanchez vs NYM: .394/.438/.707 and 6 of his 37 HRs

Maybe Fielder & Braun will split votes to help Jose. I wouldn't put it past Pujols to make a run and then hopefully split votes with Berkman.

From Mark Simon of ESPN:
The Emilio Bonifiacio SB is the 28th in the last 29 attempts against the #Mets ... Ouch.

the 29th being that Hanley pick-off yesterday, or does that not count as a CS?

I think if he tried to advance to 2B after the pickoff throw, it counts as a CS. A few days ago we heard that the Mets didn't want to trade Paulino. Why? He's hitting .300 but only 1 HR.

And a 1-2-3 by Manny Acosta.

If there was some contact by Thole or a hit by Duda in between, things might be sweeter.

Stop falling for that slider away, David.

If you thought that Pagan left the game because he was traded:
AdamRubinESPN
Angel Pagan left the game with dehydration.

Too bad Paulino didn't pinch-hit against Choate and take over the catching, huh?

Actually you could argue that their go-ahead run was created by that last bunt (and with two strikes no less).

More eighth inning follies from Parnell.
This is getting to be a thing with him.
If Collins is trying him in the "almost closer" role, he is showing that he isn't ready yet.

Before the year is up, they need to figure out if Parnell is a guy who can close or set up or if he's just a AAAA pitcher.

A winnable game. It seems like they're leaving a lot of runners on 3d with less than 2 outs. This won't help the fight to stay out of last.

it strikes me that, through all this sticking with Duda through his first third of the season as a banjo hitter, and his second third as a singles hitter, it's passing strange that Terry Colins didn't start him today, and maybe give him a chance to build on his homerun stroke.
