Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Jake Westbrook takes on Jon Niese. Westbrook is the back end of the Cards' rotation. LaRussa tends to give him the quick hook, even when he's pitching well. Hopefully we've taxed the Cards' bullpen enough in the first two games to make that a problematic choice. He's another righty, which I guess I'm pretty thankful for these days. Stay patient and he's beatable.Let's go, Mets!
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 I want to see a very long run of I.G.T's by Edgy..
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 starts at 12:20.12:10, I believe, is the actual first-pitch time.Hmmm, noon start ... temps nearing the century mark ... sounds like this game is the spiritual descendent, even if not quite on the anniversary of, the original MoFo gathering in the picnic area now almost one decade in the rear view mirror.I believe that day remains the last time NYC actually went over the 100-degree mark (actual temp, not these silly inflated "heat indexes" the geeks on TV conjure up) as it was a balmy 104 in the shade that afternoon (and there weren't no shade).
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 I seem to remember the lineup shifting so much that day that there were three or four leftfielders.Lucas Duda = Mark Johnson. The big moose that the team will send out there to wilt in order to spare the valuables.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 12:10...I'm an idiot.11:10 for me. I guess I'll take a late lunch.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Here we go. MOFo Picnic game: http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/NYN/NYN200108090.shtml
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Wearing the black jerseys today would be a mistake.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 I hope there's some kind of cooling mechanism inside of Mr. Met's oversized head.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Today could be Beltran's last game as a Met in New York..
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 That appears to be the popular opinion.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Yeah, Bay says he tweaked something the other day and it got worse. Hey Pridie, don't be ashamed to hit some of those 3-run homers you were giving us back in April.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Niese's victims:PuntoJayPujolsHollidayBerkmanFreeseMolinaDescalsoWestbrookRyan Theriot had his suspension reduced from two games to one and will serve it today - so the Cards roster is down a man
Guest attgig Guests Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 i hate pujols... maybe the mets can sign him in the offseason
Guest attgig Guests Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 keith talking it up that there's bad blood between cards and mets.pujols apparently said something mean to paulino after his hr.and now, they're saying something's up cuz pagan and molina aren't talking even though they're friends that go way back.they're saying it's because pagan threw his bat and 'showed up' the cards after the hr.i think the cards are a little sensitive...
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 It's okay. In just a few short hours, they're returning to the comforting arms and soft mouths of The Best Fans In BaseballTM.Looking pretty sinkerprone today, Metsies.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 As mentioned in the KTE, teams managed by Tony LaRussa can get pretty annoying pretty easily.Wouldn't surprise me if they were taking that tack that if you can't beat 'em on the field then bug the shit out of them.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Hard to forget the Pujols dissing during the 2006 NLCS. And the team's Jose, Jose mock during their celebration.Pujols is a turd.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Looper was the a-hole who started in with the chant mockery, IIRC. Y'know, the Braden Looper who played with and shared a clubhouse with Jose for two seasons?Nice guy. Hell of a chin.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Bunch of pussy millionaire ballplayers whining. Now stop making Westbrook look good!
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Always fun to see Jose hit a triple!
Guest attgig Guests Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 one run. still need a few more here. why does westbrook look so good?
Guest attgig Guests Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 niese looked so good over the first few innings (besides the one pitch) just walks the pitcher... geez...
Guest attgig Guests Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 geez... duda is a bit painful to watch over there. he makes murphy's defense look good.
