Wayne praising Beltran... by comparing him to Derek Jeter.

Because, you know, Jeter does things behind the scenes where nobody can see it.

Except HBO.

I heard someone..was ESPN so whichever those two stupid new guys are during the day (still better than Cowherd) today mention this story about some no-name Yankee roster invitee in Spring Training, and day 1 Jeter goes up to him and says "Welcome, I'm Derek Jeter, i hope you can help us win a championship" he touted it as him being all about winning, but who is he to taking a guy that's an extreme long shot and talking to him about the World Series? pressure much? Like he's only useful if he contributes to that?

Also, what about how Jeter's 3000hit is becoming a distraction and letting the Rays back into the division race. 3 games behind the Yankees now.

btw, Vin Scully says he'll discuss the Dodgers finances when the lawyers suit up and starting throwing and hitting the baseball.

We're getting scrod on a lot of tag calls of late.

Who the fuck does Gibson think he is??? Is he drunk??? That's two nights in a row for this moron.

Said it last night, Larry is right. The umpiring sucks. He really looks drunk.

WTF? The Mets are busting their butts out there and that hump can't even bend down a little to follow the ball. Bud Selig who obviously doesn't care about the quality of his umpires. Ironically, mlb.tv just ran a commercial for umpire school.

Alderson says Reyes may be out more than 3 weeks.

This big start by Reyes WAS A FUCKING TEASE!!!!!

He said 7-10 days was unlikely, 2-3 weeks was more like it, especially factoring in how Reyes has felt. He wouldn't commit to him being back on the 18th, saying he wasn't sure.

Maybe I need to hit the hay but Ron Darling is annoying the piss out of my tonight with his dopey giggling at the banal banter of his Ivy League booth mate. Cohen calls a good game but his asides and quips suck.

Just showed the replay of the controversial play at the plate again.

If we lose 1-0 tonight to these asshats I'm going to be seriously agitated.

I'd like to see some media pressure on MLB re: what they plan to do re: the bad umpiring that is becoming an epidemic.

Wow, that was a really bad call.

I love Vin Scully. He seemed pretty sure that Uribe was out on the play. He almost seemed surprised by the safe call. And that was before the replay in the booth. His call of the slow motion replay left no doubt:

"...Well, we can take another look. Here's Paulino backhanding the throw, and he's got him dead to rights on the leg. So umpires make mistakes, don't we all.""

Three errors, man. Mets looking flattened.

Very heroic by Dillon Chi keeping us in this.

Hopefully this inning has gone on so long that Kershaw's arm stiffens up.

That really was about the worst inning of the year.

Time for some Nick Evans action.

Best hope here in the eighth. Loaded, two out, Paulino.
