Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 As noted in the McCullough chat, Zach Lutz is out of the Buffs lineup for today's day game. With the Mets facing a spell of lefties coming up, I could see him bumping out Duda, and maybe stealing some time from Tejada.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Yeah, Duda's really not been so much, has he? Meh.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 He could be the next Nick Evans.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 The Mets, even when they've hit, have needed some middle-of-the-order thump. Duda has been unable to show us a passable Davis imitation, so maybe Lutz can ape Wright a little. If Jason Bay does a reasonable Jason Bay imitation, then maybe one more run can be made. I hand it to Sandy and Terry that they keep trying stuff like the season matters, and I suspect that maybe they'll try this.Wright himself got called up to fill a middle-of-the-lineup gap, just after Piazza went down, if I correctly recall.

It might be time to 'worry' about Duda though. I know it's repeated small samples, but this is a couple of times now he came up and just couldn't do it.

Since being farmed out, he's hit in each of his six games, going a silly .522 (12-23) / .593 /.652.Folks call him "Heat Miser," 'cuz everything he touch starts to melt in his clutch. He's too much.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 AAA Heat Miser, maybee.Nick (and likely Duda) will get their chances in August and September.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Good thought Edgy. They should send down Pridie and get Lutz.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Willie Harris would make more sense at this point. But Lutz has 24 Ks in 85 ABs, so don't get your hopes up if he does get the call.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Guess this didn't happen...
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Nope, and Lutz ended up entering the game as an injury replacement anyway.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 I agree with this plan while the Mets are playing in DH-land.http://metsfever.blogspot.com/2011/06/should-mets-bring-up-dh-go-with-one.html
