Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2011 Author Posted June 7, 2011 Sox are in the Bronx tonight for the start of a series ... they should bring him in and ask Jeter to bend over so the kid can sign his contract on Jeter's back. Then they should suit him up and let him play.Couple of the more highly regarded catchers just disappeared.Next NYM pick at #101, then #132, then every 30 picks after that.

seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Let's try this again, Mets. MAKE IT HAPPEN.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Round 3/101: Logan Verrett, RHP, Baylor U.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2011 Author Posted June 7, 2011 metirish wrote:Are we doing good here or what? You'd have to ask someone who actually knows what they're talking about ... and even they don't know.#101 - Logan Verrett - RHP - Baylor U.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Keith Law on Verrett:Verrett will come out early and sit 90-93 but doesn't hold his velocity deep into games, although he does drive the ball down in the zone. He pairs it with a short slider/cutter in the low 80s and a hard changeup; his arm slot seems tough for a slider and he might be a candidate for a true curveball. His delivery is short and compact with minimal stride, little hip rotation, and no shoulder tilt, so there's good reason he can't generate plus velocity but the potential there's potentially more velocity in there if someone wants to rework his delivery.Right now he projects as a three-pitch reliever who'll sit 92-94 or so, but he could go higher to a team that doesn't mind taking a risk on a college starter who might need more development time than normal.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 PFFFFFFFFFFT. Tropeano's way better than this Verrett character. WAY TO MISS THE GUY IN YOUR OWN BACKYARD, SANDY.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Does your guy have a brother like this?!? Huh?[youtube:2s9fsznt]cAhmLTo3p9I[/youtube:2s9fsznt]
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 My quick-glance clairvoyance report on Cory Mozzoni.Scouts are split on whether his name is Mozzoni or Mazzoni. He has a dark, brooding, boyish face which suggests the intense guy who freaks out when you fuck with his stuff, which only tempts his teammates to continue fucking with his stuff to provoke more freakouts. His heroes are UFC fighters and Rand Paul. Has had two roommates move out on him because it's all about him. Insists he can dunk but and he has been known to spend hours on a side court in the gym working on dunking. Nonetheless, nobody takes the bet because it's just too pathetic the way he lays the ball in and snaps the rim back on the way down and calls it dunking.Has changed his major from psychology to sociology to parks and rec. (Parks and rec?!)Nickname is "Cooter."
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Where's Edgy when we need him to post the Facebook picture of Mozzoni and his girlfriend?
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=626673758Believe that's a MFY hat he's wearing backwards. That or Braves.

Enjoy last place.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Cubs select Tony Zych, dude with a fastball with movement that touches 100. Houston follows with HS pitcher Christopher Lee-- a pick with teeth! And, Wolf, by the time he gets to the majors, the Pirates most assuredly won't be in last. Their minors are still stacked.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Mets going after college pitchers with blonde girlyfriends, meet 4th round choice Tyler Pill from Cal State Fullerton:
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2011 Author Posted June 7, 2011 Mets take a chill pill with their 4th round pick -- actually a Tyler Pill, RHP, Cal State Fullerton
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 I know. But still.Tyler "Pilly" Pill to the Metsies with the 132nd pick, a RHP out of Cal State Fullerton who is a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Award, which is apparently the college baseball Heisman.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 That is one tall drink of water. Our guy's pretty long, too.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2011 Author Posted June 7, 2011 Pill was drafted by the Rockies in the 25th round in 2008 but did not sign.Older brother Brett - also via Cal St Fullerton - is an infielder at AAA Fresno in the SFG system.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Five of the last 21 picks have been named "Kyle."

seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 The last ten picks have included four Matts.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Doesn't anyone name their kids "Boof" anymore?Where have all the "Orbers" gone?
