metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Keith does some complaining about the weather doesn't he?
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Really. He should put on another vest.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 With the fog giving the place a Wuthering High-Fastballs kinda feel, they'll try and start on time.Coleman's debut against Metsie, so the tops of the innings should go quickly, at least.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Really, I think it's unfair that they didn't let Gee warm up before the game.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Two walks to load the bases for the least walky club in the league... you can't say the Mets don't find creative ways to lose.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Solo Mets fan behind Cubs dugout giving standing O to Berg as he walks off the field:Cruel or unnecessarily cruel?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 I think the Cubs are now just in stall mode. They're going to keep bringing in lousy pitchers until the rains come.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Two keys there:- scoreless inning- QUICK inningNow we just need three more of those before le deluge.

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 The Cubs outfield is uniformly mistress-giving-a-eulogy awkward.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 I bet James Russell totally parties.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Station to station to station.Squeeze with Gee?

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 I'll trade outs for runs at this point.Dang, I thought we were going to have another one there.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 OK, we need three quick ones here Dillon.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 The infield, however, is a polished Billy Dee Williams.

Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Yay, it's an official game.Impressive adjustment made by Gee to recuperate after that first inning.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 In other NL East news:- Phils tied up with the Reds heading for the 9th. Cincy out-hitting Philly (and Halladay) 12-6 but had to play catch-up just to get it here.- Nats lose again to the Brews- Atlanta got a 2R HR from Brooks Conrad (sounds like the guy who squandered your 401K) in the 11th to beat Pittsburgh. Pirates loaded the bases in the home 9th with one out but hit into a GiDP- Marlins are in San Fran

soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 After 5 it's official, I got that but doesn't each team need to have the same number of half innings afterwards?I'll never understand these official game rules. Sometimes they call it after 5, sometimes they play it over, sometimes they pick it up from where it stopped, sometimes they play til 2 in the morning, sometimes they stop after a certain time. Drives me crazy.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 The only way your scenario would affect things would be if the Mets took the lead in the top of the 6th -- THEN the Cubs would need to bat.But if the rains came in mid-inning with the Mets already ahead then the inning wouldn't count but, so what, the Mets would win anyway due to the Cubs having their five whacks at it.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 To further complicate things, the only part of the rule they changed recently is that if a 5-plus inning game is tied when the rains come and they can't resume, they will resume it at another date [u:3o7acddu]from that point[/u:3o7acddu]. In the old days (like until two years ago) they would simply wipe out that game and replay the thing in its entirety.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Philly loads the bases in the bottom of the 9th w/one out ... but then fails to score (Domonic Brown - pop out; Polanco - hard ground out) and it's on to the 10th.
