I want there to be as many rainouts as possible while we have half of our lineup on the DL.

That lineup would look a bit better if Bay didn't suck.

how is this different from every lineup the Mets have put up since he signed?

I'm about out of patience with Bay's suck. I don't know if the Mets have ever gotten a worse deal.

I've given him through the Yankees series. he'll top 100 AB, hit in a crazy easy to hit in park, etc.

I was thinking today about this deal and where it ranks , he's just bloody terrible...he's not even hitting hard outs. Saw this today , not sure if it means a whole lot but it's pretty much what I see when he plays.

Inside Edge, a private scouting company, keeps a statistic called well-hit average. It measures the percentage of a hitter's at-bats that end with what a scout classifies as a well-hit ball.

Through 61 at-bats, Bay has a relatively anemic well-hit average of .098. Among Mets hitters, only weak-hitting utility infielder Chin-lung Hu has a lower mark (.056).

he actually is getting some hard hit outs lately. I've seen two balls hit 380+ feet in the last couple of days. I'm hoping that's a good sign.

Yeah whatever. Put your fucking bat on the ball when Reyes is on 3rd.

I'd love it if Keith said that shit right there.

Wouldn't it be a panic to have Keith in the pool?

If a Met joined CPF and reached his own status, I assume the software would melt down.

"Hi, I'm Mo."

"And I'm Roberto."

"Won't you join us and our friend Jeromy starring in the brand new comedy..."

All 3 of those guys were acquired bad contracts, which in a way makes them worse but also, they came with some known questions (Burnitz and Mo at least).

Castillo & Perez gave it two thumbs up.

Collins plan to have the rest of the team pick things up " starting right now" is thwarted by the weather.

So far in his Mets career, Bay has accumulated about 1.7 WAR over 491 PAs, at a cost of around $13m to date.
Which is about $7.65m (and 289 PAs) per point of WAR.

For comparison, Jeromy Burnitz delivered 2.4 WAR over 1283 PAs, for $19.5m. That's about $8.13M (and 535 PAs) per WAR point. So Bay has been better than Burnitz... but not by very much.

It would be interesting to see this kind of breakdown on all mets FAs over time, especially broken down by the GMs that made the deals.

Look at it this way. At least we're not giving Bay the equivalent of a $1M per year lifetime pension.

Yeah I'd consider Cedeno about as bad a deal as the Mets ever issued for a position player, just off the top of my head. But Bay could really give that one a run.

The good news for Bay is that there's still time to make an improvement but just the fact that it's already on the table for discussion of the worst Met deal ever can't be encouraging. I'm sure he only gets more expensive as time goes on too.

2010 = $14 mil ($8.5 signing bonus + $6.5 salary)
2011 = $16 mil
2012 = $16 mil
2013 = $16 mil
2014 = $17 mil/$3 buyout
